I booked this as a birthday surprise for my wife, and it exceeded all expectations. The title to this review was her reaction. The rooms were warm, comfortable, spacious, well-equipped, nicely presented and clean. The staff's attention to detail was fantastic. The food can only be described as excellent. From 8 courses on New Year's Eve to our departing breakfast,... more

Well myself and my partner looked for weeks for a hotel in the lakes for our mini get away... it was just by chance that we found the Hideaway. I'm so glad we did! The whole stay was perfect! We stayed in the ultimate comfy room which was gorgeous! The owners are really friendly and will do anything to help/... more

'The Lakes' wouldn't be lakes without rain! ...so how fine it was to return to each evening to take tea and cakes like your gran used to make, before a pre-dinner wash and brush-up. The Hideaway is a typically characterful Lakeland house, set in its own grounds only a modest walk from Windermere bus/train station...and therefore shops, cafes etc. OK,... more

We had just got engaged and fancied a few days away to celebrate. The Hideaway was the perfect retreat - small enough that we didn't feel like just a room number, with a personal, cosy atmosphere which felt welcoming and professional at the same time. The complimentary afternoon tea was a lovely touch, and each time we ordered a drink,... more

What a shame! My husband and I were so looking forward to a great getaway from our 2 children before our third one arrives! We booked the hotels best room at £190 per night B&B - not the most expensive we came across but pretty pricey all the same! We were in room 1 I believe, shown on their website... more

With only 12 rooms the Hideaway was just the right size to have the personal service of the owners, who have very high standards of hospitality and very welcoming. The hotel is located close to the centre of Windermere, but down a private road, so convenient but also nice and quiet. We had a fabulous room, with a spiral staircase... more

This posting is a little delayed but thought it was worth adding this hotel... we stayed at The Hideaway at Windermere on 21st June 2008. I had tried booking some of the other Windermere hotels, which I have to say all looked overpriced for the quality of the hotels... but I guess your paying partly for the location. Anyway, all... more

We went to the Lakes to celebrate husbands birthday and were looking for somewhere to simply chill out and enjoy good food. Decided to go for the Hideaway having read several good reviews on Trip Advisor and were definitely not dissapointed. The location is perfect if you want somewhere a little further from the madding crowd, but within easy walking... more

My wife and I have stayed here twice in the last couple of years, the photos on this site do not do this gem of a hotel any justice, since our last vist the hotel has been refurbished, and looks wonderful. I truly relax when visiting the Lakes, and staying at the Hideaway only adds further to my desired state... more

On arrival as we pulled into the car park I had my doubts, but these were quickly dispelled by the friendly reception we received, the hotel is nicely decorated and the room was clean, the bathroom was small but funtional, the bed was comfortable. The location is good, quite close to the town centre, the food in the resuraunt was... more
