Had never been to the Lake District before and this trip was a treat for my Husband's birthday, I am just so pleased I found The Hideaway, you could not better it. The rooms were light, airy, spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated as was our bathroom. The Hotel is in a very peaceful location, in lovely gardens, yet only a... more

I had been given a discreet ‘tip off ‘ that this hotel was good, but it was even better than I had ever hoped for. Frequently, establishments do not offer the kind of customer experience you should expect. Places rely on the beautiful local location to attract their customers and offer over inflated tariffs and very average food with terrible... more

I spent a considerable amount of time looking for a decent hotel near Lake Windermere. A hotel which would be suitable for a special celebration. Having looked at many I found them vastly overpriced and who isn't cost conscious at the moment! This hotel seemed to offer decent value for money, good location, facilities, amenities and was a small rather... more

We have just come back from spending three nights at The Hideaway for a birthday weekend and it’s hard to put into words what a brilliant stay we had… the staff are excellent: Lisa and Richard make you feel so welcome, as do all their staff; the food is divine (the steak is so tender it just melts, the crème... more

We have stayed at this Hotel on a previous occasion and thought it was time to share our thoughts with others. The Hideaway is located just a short walk from the hustle and bustle of Windermere though that is difficult to believe as it is so quiet. Over the last couple of years the owners Lisa and Richard have undertaken... more

Just returned from a 3 night stay at this fabulous find!  We were upgraded on arrival to a beautiful room (No 2) which has lovely tasteful contemporary decor and a very large and newly fitted bathroom.  Decor and standards of clenaliness across the hotel are excellent and the owners have created a lovely relaxing atmosphere with service being exactly right... more

This has to be my favourite hotel. It has a lovely, relaxed atmosphere, great food, lovely decoration and is perfect for a long weekend away. The hotel is a lovely old building, full of its original features (beautiful tiled hall and stained-glass windows), but is understatedly modern in the main rooms. The breakfast room is particularly welcoming, and very tastefully... more

Just returned from a 3 night stay at the Hideaway - a hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle that is Windermere/Bowness. Great location for exploring the Lakes. Food and service excellent - breakfast, afternoon cake and dinner could not be faulted in any way and would put many other, much more expensive establishments to shame. We shall certainly... more

This was a cute little place that felt very comfortable with a genuine warm welcome in what must be one of the major tourist towns around the Lake District. Nice touches were the compimentary afternoon tea and cakes and newspaper in the morning. The couple running the place were lovely. Didn't bat an eyelid over a gay couple checking in.... more
