It was the beginning and the end of our hiking tour in the Lake District. The inn has a great common area, delicious breakfast, congenial hosts, and the most wonderful soaking tub (in our room). It is located close to the train station, and easy walking distance to some nice restaurants. We stayed twice during our trip, once the inn... more

As always, I checked with Trip Advisor before booking this hotel and we were not disappointed. Welcoming staff, beautifully clean and well looked after accommodation all contributed to a relaxing break. As advertised the breakfast was cooked to order and was delicious and hot. Oh those mushrooms, Yum! Could not fault the hotel and would not hesitate to recommend to... more

I spent 3 days/2 nights at the Lake District with my wife and toddler son. We knew that the best pictures are taken and shown on the web, but still, knew there is little else to go on, went with Ellerthwaite after much research and hotel reviews. Three things stand out on this lodge -first it's very newly renovated, so... more

I work for a large outdoor company who opened a store in Bowness-on-Windermere in summer last year, initially there were 10-15 booked into Ellerthwaithe and this was done by our head office. I was then required to go back twice alone each time staying for 7 nights. The hotel is brilliant, excellently located just a few minutes walk from the... more

We found Ellerthwaite on the internet and thought it too good to be true. There seems to be very few family rooms in Windermere and Ellerthwaite Lodge had just finished refurbishing one! We stayed three nights in the family room and our two young girls loved it. The room was large with enough space to play around in, had a... more

The staff were just lovely and helpful. The rooms were clean and well presented as was the rest of the hotel; plenty of tea, coffe and... more

We stayed in the Family room. The standard was very high and the service was top class. Kids loved the wooden stair case and the TV! The hotel is close to the main shopping bit of Windermere and the lakeland plastic shop! you have to see it to belive it! The Lodge has it's own coffe bar which is great... more

We decided to stop in the Lake District on the way down to stay with friends in Bristol. In booking this place we couldn't have asked for more. From the very warm welcome we received, the lovely newly refurbished room to the excellent breakfast. Well situated in Windermere, so easy to get around on foot as well as by car.... more
