My wife and I have just returned from a superb three night stay at the Cragwood Hotel. We chose the dinner, bed and breakfast weekend rate at £300/person. I have to say however that I think this was a little too expensive. Fortunately for one night there was wedding and we were afforded the opportunity to eat out. This saved... more

The Cragwood benefits from a suberb location in lovely grounds right beside Lake Windermere. The rooms are good although ours was a bit cluttered in one corner where a smallish table doubled as a dressing table, television table and somewhere to write (not really a problem though). Great food and nice staff. Our only complaint is that the downstairs (ground... more

We have just returned from a lovely long weekend away in the Lakes and at Cragwood. We were greeted at the check in desk with a lovely warm welcome and were taken to our room. Our room was fabulous, with a lovely big four poster bed, large wardrobe and nice bathroom. Good tea and coffee facilities which were replaced daily... more

Lots of places quite busy at this time of year in the lakes just after the schools return....we usually go walking in the area. We booked the Cragwood as it was the only place with two rooms free for two couples. Reading the reviews on tripadvisor I cannot believe that anybody considers this hotel to be sufficient. I genuinely checked... more

Wonderful stay and wonderful weather - so who can complain. Food was excellent. On our 2nd day we requested kippers for breakfast and they apologised they had none but ensured we had them the next morning. Staff went the extra mile with a smile. Only inconveniece was no internet in the bedrooms. Will return! more

After staying in a rather unsuitable B&B for just one night (instead of 4) we found the Cragwood Country House Hotel by chance on our way to Windermere. The reception by the manager was remarkable (don't confuse him with Bill Murray!) and even though we were a bit reluctant to stay there due to the fact that the rates are... more

We booked a weekend here in April 2008 for our wedding anniversary and it was fantastic. The hotel was so relaxing and the staff can not do enough for you. It is a pleasant change to find staff so willing, yet unobtrusive. They all multi task, reception, bar and restaurant which was brilliant. The food served is of the finest... more

My husband and I booked the Cragwood Hotel for our wedding - it fitted our requirements - a Lake District hotel with lake frontage and the possibility of an evening reception. The Cragwood is a fabulous location for a summer wedding - you can have the ceremony outside in the garden as they have a licensed gazebo. As the hotel... more
