On the way home from working in Glasgow we decided to have a night in the Lakes on spec. We went to the TI in Windermere and checked Trip Advisor for a decent Hotel or B & B just for one night. It was closed but we logged on to their wifi from outside in the car, technology eh ;)... More

Cragwood is a beautiful Country house nestled in it's own grounds on the Banks of the wonderful Windermere Lake. The room was spotless and of a good size (though very warm! Breakfast was delicious and the staff friendly. During our stay we enjoyed a roam around the grounds, and after eating in the town, playing board games in the lounge... More

We chose Cragwood based on the excellent reviews, for a one night stay on a Friday. We arrived driving up the private road to the hotel, daffodils each side, looked wonderful! We were checked in by a lovely FOH member, and she actually walked us to our room while giving info - great! Seen reviews here about the old and... More

We got married at the Cragwood nearly 20 years ago. It was wonderful then and it is wonderful now. Our comfortable bedroom and the downstairs sitting rooms have been skilfully decorated to bring back the ambiance of the 1910 house. Don't expect whiz-bang modernity. Do expect ultra-high standards in cleanliness, comfort and service. The staff here are all excellent and... More

This is my only free weekend for many months so decided we would look for somewhere special where we could go with the dogs. After looking on line for ages (and being a hotelier) I do look at everything. I finally found Cragwood. There is nothing negative to say about this place. It is set in its own ground which... More

We spent a week at Cragwood in January 2015. This place has become one of my all-time favourites and it clearly deserves so. Set in a scenic location, close to the lake and far away from the roads, this is not just a hotel but a piece of art, created a century ago and later repurposed for the hotel. We... More

Every year we stay in a hotel for pleasure and a little work.As usual we had two dinners, two breakfasts, two business sessions and relaxation. The Cragwood could not have been better. The team worked wonders, the food and wine were superb and the service could not be faulted. I would be surprised if there is a better value 3 Star hotel in the Lakes.

I spent 5 days here on business and we had the entire hotel to only our business group. The hotel was very clean and looked after. The rooms were modern with good bathroom facilities. The usual tea and coffee facilities and free toiletries. The hotel is much larger than I anticipated. My favourite part of the visit was the common... More

We've just spent two nights at Cragwood and have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everyone is really friendly and welcoming. Tasty food, lovely log fires and the comfiest bed ever! The views are stunning. A particular thanks to Philip. We're getting married at Cragwood in June and can't wait to spend some more time here.

We stayed last night at the hotel and it was lovely. The team at the hotel are very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. We had a fabulous room (5) with 2 separate views of the lake and beyond to the snow covered hills. The bed was huge and really comfy. The hotel is very relaxing and the log fires... More
