My husband and I escaped the rat race for the Lakes to re-energise and revive our work weary souls and we had chosen the chestnuts looking for a warm and relaxing environment. It did not disappoint, in fact it provided us with the perfect base for our stay. Heather was warm and welcoming, our room clean and inviting with lots... More

Everything at Chestnuts is spotlessly clean, the large bed (room 5) is very comfortable. The little touches; fridge for guest use, corkscrew & wine glasses in the room, make this guesthouse stand out from the crowd. The small, but lovely garden has tables & chairs for guest use too. All in all, we would definitely recommend Chestnuts. Oh, and the... More

Our first visit to Chestnut following recommendation from friend. We had a wonderful three nights stay. We reached around 11 PM and Heather was very welcoming. Room was excellent and very clean. We noticed that they have put good efforts to maintain this guest house. They have taken care of every small thing like variety of hot drinks, shower cap,... More

From the moment I arrived Nigel was there to welcome me. He carried my case upstairs and then offered me refreshments in the lounge. A while later Heather his wife came in and also was very welcoming too. The room I had was no.3 I was on my own as my husband was on business. It was a double room with... More

We thank the guests for their review and are sorry that they were happy with everything but the bed. It was not that I was not interested in their comments regarding the mattress, I did say I was sorry they had not been comfortable, it was simply that I was at a loss to know how to respond to their... We stayed at the Chestnuts Guest House while hiking around Lake District, and our experience was very positive. Our room was warm, clean and nicely decorated. It included an en-suite bathroom and a comfortable bed which helped us to recover from hours of walking. Considering that noise from other rooms easily bothers me, our place was not as well isolated... More

My wife and I stayed at Chestnuts for 3 nights recently while visiting the lake district. Great location halfway between Windermere and Bowness and walking distance to many pubs, restaurants and bars. The rooms are tastefully decorated, cosy and quiet, guaranteeing a good nights sleep. Fresh coffee plunger in the room was a nice touch. Breakfast was freshly prepared and... More

We visited Chestnuts Hotel again last weekend this was our second short break and although the weather was poor, the weekend was otherwise very enjoyable, the room was spotless with tea coffee and biscuits, the breakfast was excellent and plentiful. The position of this hotel is ideal for a walk into Windermere or down to Bowness. We can highly recommend... More

My Wife and I stayed for two nights October 11th & 12th, and this was a last minute booking, We can only give this Guest House an average rating as the bathroom in our room was poorly laid out. You couldn’t use the mirror to shave with as the sink was in the way and the lights in the room... More

We stayed 3 nights here after changing our dates a few times! We arrived early but was happily greatest by heather who said if we didn't mind waiting she would have our room ready. We were given coffee and biscuits which was a lovely touch. When we were shown to our room we were in awe as it was perfect!... More
