Third stay at the Brendan Chase. Great Breakfast, homely and warm room, good wi-fi,warm welcome from David on return. Would recommend.to people that require a comfy, no nonsense, value for money stay. Location good, Lots of places to eat nearby. Walking distance from rail station.

The horrific memory of this establishment will be etched into my memory for all eternity, I am writing this review so others do not have to face the mental trauma that I have been subject to. Owner had a old grubby jumper on with egg yolk splattered down it no pride in his appearance what so ever. Very rude and... More

What can we say about David that hasn't already been said, however although his manner seems to have upset some guest, our party of 7 embraced it (1 group on side of house, the other from the other side - if you want a room together phone don't use the new fangled Internet) Modern day Fawlty Towers if you love... If only we'd read all the reviews on this site it would have saved this one as we would never have booked!.....spent a night in this (so called) hotel for my sisters hen party and it was booked at the last minute. As per other reviews we arrived and were given the 'lecture' about how to open the door! Originally... More

I am sorry you were disappointed.I always show people how to operate the door locks as we have guests from all over the world many of whom are unfamiliar with our door furniture! ( I have just spoken to another b&b owner on the subject who does the same as a courtesy and the guests could not open the door... More

We stayed at this hotel for one night! (For £120.00) (Thank god we didn't book longer) It was terrible!!!Firstly there was nowhere to park! Secondly the owner was rude, abrupt, inpatient, condescending. An all round grumpy man! He spent at least 10 minutes showing us and re-showing us how to open the front door! (yes ok we get it, put... There are so many comments here so i will provide an abbreviated response. !0 minutes showing them the door- this is done out of courtesy. There are two keys and I need to show guests which one is for the front door This takes about 20 seconds! ,20 minute lecture on food. Obviously a ridiculous exaggeration .No one would stand for... More

the room was clean, bed was comfortable and the breakfast was lovely. i have never had a sausage that nice before. the B&B was a stones throw away from many restaurants/bars to chose from. we were slightly disappointed however that there was no on suite but the communal facilities made up for that as the shower/toilet were both modern and... The owner of the Brendan Chase, David, is a friendly, intelligent and funny individual. Two of us checked in and upon our arrival,to our surprise, David upgraded us to a bigger room free of charge as a gesture of good will. The rooms were clean as expected at any establishment, furthermore the beds were surprisingly comfy. The shower was clean... More

We booked this hotel through website directly from Dubai. He was very prompt in his response. We were family of 4 and reached the accommodation in the afternoon. The accommodation is behind his residence, we were welcomed by Mr.David, and a clear briefing of do and don't were explained. Upon enquiring the length of stay, he gave us the plan... More

This is the second time we've stayed with David in his BnB and we enjoyed it. The BnB is a good value option for a stay in the Lake District - nice location (lots of restaurants around); delicious breakfast; decent price; clean rooms. I've read previous reviews about his manner and its true - he's an opinionated guy who likes... More
