Following a booking error by third party, the owner went out of her way to find us a room at their sister B&B 'Monties'. The service was excellent as well as the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. Ideal location if you're here for the views. Just a 5 minute walk to the lakes and in the heart of the... More

Beautiful house hidden away from the main street. The owner is friendly, practical and doesn't hassle you. We stayed two nights so opted for continental breakfast on first morning, warm croissants, fresh vine tomatoes, meats, yoghurts, fresh fruit and lovely coffee. The second morning we walked to Montys café which is owned by Oakthwaith and was served a lovely fresh cooked... Hi just returned from a weekend at this b&b and had a lovely stay, we stayed in both the rooms they have ,and both were lovely, the ensuite bedroom is massive with walkin wardrobe, sadly the other room had no wardrobe , (had recently broke). So I had to put my clothes in my sister, s wardrobe in her ensuite... More

We booked this B&B at short notice - we were looking for relatively cheap overnight accommodation from Scotland to London and though a stop over in the lakes for a night would be a good idea. Well, what a find! a magnificently restored Edwardian house, very tastefully converted for the en-suite with very nice decor. The bed is king sized... More

This was an absolute 'Gem" of a find for my daughter and I. Nestled between Windermere village and Bowness a perfect location and within walking distance of all the lovely local bars and restaurants , two yummy eateries to try are the Angel Inn.....great for lunch and Little Italy for great cocktails and delish Pizzas in the evening. I booked this so called 'luxury' B&B for two nights for a romantic break with my partner (after reading positive reviews on Trip Advisor) although it turned out to be a disaster from start to finish. Upon our arrival to Oakthwaite we were greeted by one of the owners after ten minutes of knocking on the front door. He advised... More

Went to the lakes to propose to my fiancee, the hosts were briliant especially with the knowledge of the area so we knew where to go on such short notice. The whole experience was cosy and felt really comfortable there.

A fantastic B & B with a very welcoming host. It has been decorated to a top standard. Breakfast was available in a lovely little cafe in the town which was lovely. Would definitely recommend. Thank you very much for making us feel welcome. My only improvement that I would like to see would be some lovely big bath towels!... More

My friend and I recently visited Oakthwaite for 2nights and we genuinely couldn't say any more positive about our experience. The guesthouse is set in beautifully kept grounds ideally situated between Windermere and Bowness. The room was immaculate and very cosy but the 'pièce de résistance' was the separate bathroom with roll-top bath and shower cubicle (fantastic shower) which really... More
