We booked a deal at this beautiful hotel and were not disappointed. We were allocated a large lake view room with balcony, a huge bathroom with enormous slipper bath, all very comfortable and enjoyable. The food was delicious and served in a small dining room overlooking the lake. We had the guinea fowl and venison - so tasty. Breakfast was... More

Our stay here was lovely. We had the cottage away from the main building, and although it has other flats attached to it, it is still very private. The view over Lake Windermere was perfect, and with close local access to Bowness and Windermere it truly is a great location for a lakes holiday. The restaurant is extremely good, but... More

My husband and I have just spent the night at The Miller Howe Hotel in Windermere and everything was wonderful. We were in the Ullswater room which had its own balcony overlooking the lake and the bathroom had a free standing bath. The food in the restaurant was terrific and the service was equally good. All in all a memorable... More

Thirty years ago, my gourmet brother used to rave about Miller Howe. "Far better than its more famous Lake District rival," he said. I finally made it here on a business trip and the cuisine is truly exceptional. A wonderful array of dishes from a short but imaginative menu. We chose crispy, boned chicken wings, a mouthwatering dish of lamb,... More

Whilst not in the town as such, it's only a mile at most from Bowness town centre. The road to it is largely unlit so a torch is a good idea but there is a pavement all the way. Either that or a short taxi ride. We didn't stay in the hotel but did check out the bar, verandah and... More

We are regular visitors to the Lake District, but the first time we have stayed here. For us, this hotel has 3 things going for it and all are outstanding, but it is a little rough around the edges. 1 - The Food - stunning food, especially the dinner on both evenings, all 3 courses and even the mixture of... Just had a fabulous stay at the Miller Howe in Windermere. Lovely large bedroom with view over the lake. Super bathroom with a "slipper" bath and large shower. Food was wonderful with an excellent choice. Couldn't fault any of the staff, polite, attentive, attention to detail. Lovely lounges to relax in and a conservatory, all with views of the lake.... We stayed for 3 days over New Year, we have stayed twice before and had a fabulous time so had no hesitation returning. The cost of the 3 days was £1200 so not a cheap stay. When we arrived I went to check in, I got a Luke warm welcome to say the least from a blonde lady Australian I... More

Apart from the really nice young waiter, we thought the staff were not over welcoming and pretentious. The room was OK but we have had much better elsewhere. It was not exactly clean, the skirting boards were very dusty. Perhaps we should have told them? As we were only staying as a stop over (after a 6 hour drive) and... More

My husband and I were lucky enough to stay over night here for a pre-Christmas break. What a truly lovely place. Even though the weather was extremely dull and wet, we could help but appreciate the stunning surroundings, and all the more so due to us having a room looking out over Windermere and the Langdales. The hotel is completely... More
