We arrived on the friday and looking at the outside it look a bit neglected , the room was Ok but the bathroom was very tired and felt a bit dirty, we never got clean towels they just kept hanging the wet ones back on the 1980s electric towel radiator The evenibg meal was very disappointing and a bit tastelesss... We've enjoyed many meals at Miller Howe - but Sunday lunch today was a disaster. Our table was booked for 1pm. But we didn't sit down at the table until after 1:25pm. Service then on was very slow. We made a choice of the roast beef - the roast leg of lamb had all been ordered already. This was a... More

We have just returned from a 2-night stay at this amazing hotel. We have stayed here before and have always had a wonderful experience. The hotel itself is beautiful with lounge areas, conservatory and lovely gardens. We stayed in the "Ullswater" room which was spotless and had a beautiful copper bath and amazing views from the balcony. The food is... More

We returned to this wonderful hotel after a 25 year gap, when John Tovey owned it and every meal was a theatrical production.....it has lost none of its charm and has moved with the times, retaining its elegance but introducing a subtle contemporary slant. We were with friends on a Secret Escapes deal...incredible value for first class food and good... More

A small hotel with brilliant cuisine, not for those looking for noise and action. Windermere and Bowness are close by but well concealed by trees, water, mountain views. The room was great with a vintage bath and shower and lovely view. Beware of the abrupt turn into the drive. Totally energising for those who like peace, quiet and fine dining.

Had a great stay at the Miller Howe. Purchased the deal on travelzoo, which included a slap up meal and a room with a view. Food was top notch and the staff very friendly. Overall I was very impressed with the place and would consider going back.

Stayed here over the weekend. There are some great views from the hotel. The rooms were neat and tidy with all the basics. There are water jets in the bath although the one in our room did not work. The duvets/pillows were also very heavy - probably nice for winter but it makes it very hot in summer. It does... More

The hotel itself, and particularly the bedrooms, had clearly seen better days and are in need of a renovation. The bed itself was very hard and uncomfortable. However, the faded grandeur and discomfort became irrelevant at meal times, which, in the case of our one night stay, consisted of dinner and breakfast. Every course, with the possible exception of the... More

This was a return visit to a hotel that was an important destination for romantic foodies for decades. My review is in two parts which will become clear as you read on. Firstly, objectively, I think the present owners are doing the establishment a disservice. The rooms, which used to be romantically eclectic are now tired as are the hallways... More

We stayed here with a couple of friends this week and chose two cottage rooms ( Cumberland and Lancashire) for which we paid a supplement. The rooms were the only less than great part of the whole stay; they were compact, the sitting room and bedroom were both small and dark and there was no view of the lake. We... More
