Great hotel with fantastic friendly staff and great food. Location is perfect for exploring the southern lakes. Our room was nice comfy and clean as you would expect. Nice walk in their private woods behind the hotel. Would be great to pop in to eat or stay. My only tip would be don't take room 26 it's the fire escape... More

Well my owners decided to take me away for a long weekend. After a long drive we arrived at this hotel. The people here were very friendly feeding me biscuits and fetching me bowls of water. As soon as they unpacked we went off for a walk in the forest behind the building. The trail is lots of fun.. plenty... More

We stayed here 19/20 April for a birthday celebration. It was our first visit and overall we were very impressed. The Hotel is easy to find from junction 36 of the M6 yet it is set in a remote, peaceful location just 3 miles from Bowness Pier on Lake Windermere. It is set in extensive grounds and tranquil woodland walks... More

Met friends here for lunch before walking in the area. A small terrace was the perfect setting on such a lovely day. The service was quick and efficient and all four lunches were just perfect. The hot steak and caramelised onion bap especially deserves mention, served with chips, coleslaw and horseradish, excellent value at around £10.

A scrumptious lunch: delectable sea bass and asparagus with crab mousse, perfectly cooked. Beef burger with a board full of extras, coleslaw, cauliflower cheese and chutney most enjoyable. Puddings to die for especially the orange posset and rhubarb served in a martini glass with ginger snap on the side - so pretty. Smiling, professional service; we look forward to an... More

Food was really, really delicious. Smoked sharing platter to start was very tasty. Food envy on the Calamari which looked delicious on the table next to us! I had steak - exceptionally tasty, would have preferred dauphinoise over boulangere potatoes - bit too dry to have without a sauce. Tried the lamb steak too which was the best lamb I... More

This restaurant stood out a mile above others we have sampled in the Bowness (Lake Diatrict) area. It has an atmospheric interior, beams, lots of lovely genuine wood, and rock, and is also roomy and light. The open plan kitchen can be seen from the restaurant. Service was attentive and the waiters polite and friendly. Most of all we enjoyed... More

I took some friends for a birthday lunch and was delighted with the setting, the service and the lovely food - a platter to share, followed by Roast Sirloin and Spring chicken, topped off with crumble... well done, and well presented. Will definitely return and hope, this time, the fire is burning in the dining room on the RHS. It... More

My husband and I recently stayed here for a much needed relaxing night away ... Lovely food, and gorgeous room... And a lovely wood to go for walks... Lovely memories. We also booked Mike for the clay pigeon shoot in the hotels woods ... Well worth it! We'll be back.

We stayed at the Wild Boar as a family of 14 for my husbands 40th Birthday. We booked online and then contacted the hotel to advise we were all staying together as a party of 14. We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was outstanding. We were seated right next to the kitchen so the children could... More
