Staying in Windermere dont eat at this place! It may have been a one off but the quality of the food put down in front of us was too say the least disgusting, you also paid as you do up front at the bar for it.I was going too complain but it was the start of a 3 night break and... More

Having had a long drive with a hungry slightly cranky 4 year old grand daughter and a older dog in tow we accidentally found the elleray. A little hidden gem. All the lunch food was home made at £5 a pop, and large helpings. Children got a meal and desert. When we walked in after first asking if it was... More

We were spending the weekend around Windemere and wanted somewhere nice for a pub lunch. We researched pubs in the area and this came out fairly top. When we arrived the overall perception of the place didn't wow us but the food was outstanding and great value. It was £5 per person for food, the portions were large, the food... More

Just came back from here after spending the weekend. On arrival we were told there were no parking permits available so would have to park in the bus station, they would pay for this, but not what you want to hear after a 3 hour drive. There are 3 rooms and a permit for each room, however us and the... More

This is our second visit to the Elleray and very very dissapointed. We took our grandson with us this time they told us it was a family room it was the same room we had last year and they just put a single bed in. The mattress on the double bed was disguisting when my husband pulled the sheet back... More

Stayed three nights in February 2015. Small 'hotel' with - I think - four bedrooms. The room was a bit small and 'frayed round the edges' but was warm and the bed was comfortable. There was not much storage space and the bathroom lacked any hook to hang clothes or towels on. The breakfasts were very good as was the... More

The Elleray is our favourite hotel and staying there has become our traditional way of celebrating the New Year. This was our 3rd year in a row visiting the Lakes for New Years, staying in the Elleray each time. Each year we have never been let down and it is the perfect get away for a short break in the... The Beer and the Food were great. The atmosphere was good and the Fire in the main Lounge was nice. However the Language from some customers and also the Bar Manager was a bit too much. When there are Women and Children around this should not be allowed in a place like the Elleray. It's a shame

If you like a good pint of beer you may be better off to DRINK SOMEWHERE ELSE!! First of all I need to say that I love the lake district....it's one of the reasons I live here! For me the best part of the Lake District, apart from the Fells and Lakes is the good quality local food and beer.... More
