To begin on a positive note the hotel is quiet and set in very pretty environs. There is a large garden where you can spot rabbits at play, I found it very peaceful and calming. We had a room on the first floor in the cottages. It was a nice large room with three beds as our son was with... More

Excellent. I was biking around the lakes so booked here to have as my base. It's a 5/10 minute bike ride or about a 15/20 walk up a hill north of Bowness-On-Windermere so not central. But if you're biking around the area from the hotel down the hill to Bowness is a nice little ride where you can get some... More

This hotel is clean, beautiful, well-located & the staff are wonderfully attentive! It had everything we needed, even despite arriving at 11pm - unable to find a pub in town which would serve dinner after 10. Reception handed us a order-in menu & we had a lovely amber ale from the bar in the garden, with some take-away pizza. Our... More

Stayed at this splendid hotel 14th to 17th July. Room 10 was clean with nice view of garden and lake in the background. The hotel caters very much for guests with sight impairment and their dogs and although we are visually sound we were very impressed with how well they looked after everyone who needed a wee bit extra help.... This is an interesting hotel. Originally built as a holiday house for the Coutts family it has once been a beautiful place. It is a sound building, comfortable beds. Quiet location with glimpses of the lake. It is a vision impaired friendly place - which I didn't realize when we booked - not that this made any difference although I... More
