We booked ahead of time and booked a double room for two. It is quite small. By Canadian standards and I did not love that the cooking smells wafted up to our bedroom . There was a very bright street lamp right outside the window....which made it too bright. All their staff were friendly and very helpful. Next time I... More

I spent 2 nights at the Lamplighter in Windermere as my base to visit the Lake District. It was a delightful hotel to relax and rest after trekking and sightseeing in the neighboring villages. It doesn't have a lot of frills, but has the perfect necessities to make for a great stay: clean room and bathroom, comfortable bed, and great... More

Just returned from a weekend in the Lake District. We used Windermere as our base and stayed at this lovely inn. Accommodation was perfect for our girls' cycling weekend! Comfy beds, recently remodeled baths...and coffee/tea in the room. What more do you need? The restaurant served a delightful breakfast and our evening meal was delicious as well. Walking distance from... More

A few days away to explore the lake district and use Windermere as a base. Very clean and redecorated rooms, friendly hotel with lovely food, and excellent breakfast choice. Handy location for getting around lake district and near to main road and rail station. The picture above was actually our bedroom, clean and quite large with 2 chairs in window.... More

A few days away to explore the lake district and use Windermere as a base. Very clean and redecorated rooms, friendly hotel with lovely food, albeit a bit pricey (£30+ for two curries on "curry night"), but excellent breakfast choice. Handy location for getting around lake district and near to main road and rail station. Good bistro nearby "MoJo's" for... More

I'd been looking for a decent but not too expensive hotel to stay in for a wedding near Windermere and had looked at quite a few places. The Lamplighter looked like good value for money and in a perfect location. Great hotel! Room was pretty big and clean and lovely and warm (it was snowing outside!). Furniture is a bit... More

On arrival welcomed by a lovely lady who showed us the dining room, explained the times breakfast was served then showed us to our room, which was the perfect size for us, the bed was huge, extra pillows were available for our use. The curry night is an experience not to be missed, altogether wonderful food throughout our stay, lovely... More

I had a fantastic stay with my entire family, very warm welcome complete with Easter eggs and personalized card in our room. The rooms seemed like recently refurbished and are spacious and neat. Its a very good location with easy access to local pubs and restaurants. We were vegetarians and the staff took special care to provide us with break... More

We enjoyed a fantastic bank holiday weekend. Great location and car parking no issue. The welcome was the best we have had with Easter card and eggs in our room on arrival. Nothing was too much trouble and the rooms are light and airy. We also ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent as was the service. The... More
