Set just a short walk from Ambleside, in a peaceful location below Loughrigg Fell, this country house was homely and friendly with Paul as an excellent host. Breakfast cooked to order, as much or as little as you would like and nothing was too much trouble. There are only three rooms available to stay in, the remainder being the owner's... More

We spent 3 nights here in early September and couldn't have been happier. There is ample parking (one of our priorities) and it is a short drive to Ambleside. Likewise, it is a short walk and Paul will provide torches (aka "flashlights" for the Americans) for the walk back, if it is after dark. After a long day of walking,... More

We had three nights here and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Paul is a great host - attentive and entertaining. He could not do enough for us. The house is huge with large gardens and lots of parking space, but only three rooms are used for B&B. The location is fantastic and the town is an easy 20 minute walk along... More

Foxghyll is such a lovely place to stay. Set in 40 acres of its own grounds it certainly has the WOW factor when first viewed at the end of the country road leading to it. Paul gave us a very warm welcome and was a very kind and helpful host throughout our stay. As it had been his family home... More

Before we stayed at Foxghyll ,I'd read some of the reveiws on here, including the bad ones,so wasn't sure how it would turn out... but my friend had already booked us in! So it was with relief that we found it's actually a fantastic place to stay.Accessable walks right from the back garden and only 20 min walk into Ambleside or... More

My husband and I stayed at Foxghyll Guesthouse 2 weeks ago for 4 days. I wanted to stay for 4 months as we had such a wonderful time. Paul & Majorie were wonderful hosts. The breakfasts were delicious and you could basically personalize what you wanted. Parking was close and we felt comfortable coming and going. The countryside is so... More

We had a three nights break here from September 7th, and enjoyed our stay. Paul was a very good host, and we enjoyed the breakfasts which he prepared. The house is lovely, and the surrounding area is well worth a visit. (We had the four poster room, and the bed was very comfortable).
