My husband and I stayed here for two nights in September. The grand house was beautifully decorated and our four poster bed and room was luxurious, clean and comfortable. Paul, the host, was extremely friendly and helpful and everything you could possibly want was served for breakfast. The house stands in beautiful gardens and when we looked out the window... More

Don't miss out on staying here! Paul the owner is wonderful and full of local knowledge. The accommodation was comfortable luxury and just beautiful. The grounds and the house are superb. It is a short wonderous stroll to Ambleside and just so peaceful. Room and ensuite were spotless. And breakfast - oh just to die for!We will be back.

Stayed at Foxghyll for weekend in September with my fiancée. Room was spacious, clean and fresh, bed was very comfortable. Paul the owner was welcoming and Personable. The breakfast was home cooked, tasty and filling and set us up for our days walking. Great value for money and we've already booked to return in the spring.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights having booked the Spa room. Foxghyll is a beautiful listed property nestling beneath Loughrigg Fell and surrounded by lawned gardens with mature trees and shrubs with the river Rothay running nearby - a haven of peace and tranquility! We were warmly welcomed by Paul who proved to be a most engaging,... More

Just left Foxghyll after 4 nights. Very nice slightly quirky place. Had a comfortable stay with very nice breakfasts. Paul is a great host, always cheerful. If we visit the lakes again would have no hesitation in staying thete again

We stayed here for the second time in June 2015 and once again had an excellent stay. My husband was doing the Great North Swim and the B&B is in the perfect location for walking to the event site. The walk into Ambleside takes about 10-15 minutes and every day we saw deer, birds and bats on our way into... More

Stayed here for a night when exploring the Lake District on a short break away from the city, wonderful place! Paul was a great host who made us feel very welcome while also providing an incredible breakfast! Room was very spacious and clean offering everything we needed. 3 minute drive into Ambleside providing a great location. Will definitely aim to... More

I have found this quiet place by accident and I am glad I did. The scenery on the pictures don't do justice for the Foxghyll B&B as it is more beautiful in reality. Situated at the bottom of a smaller, forest covered mountain near Ambleside, this house has a quiet and pleasant place to offer to those who are looking... More

Had a two night stay here and couldn't be more positive about the place. It's a beautiful old house, full of character, in a really lovely location. Paul was friendly and welcoming, the breakfasts were excellent and the room warm and comfortable. It's a short (15-20 minute) and very pleasant walk into Ambleside so near enough for shopping and meals... More

Stayed here for 2 nights as a short break while we were walking in the lakes. Found it by accident on the internet at short notice and am very glad that we did. A gorgeous big old country house approx. 20 mins walk from the centre of Ambleside. Set in its own grounds and the route up loughrigg fell starts... More
