Stopped here on my way back to the Midlands from Oban in Scotland. Warm welcome; delightful spacious and comfortable room with excellent wifi signal. Breakfast was really enjoyable. Pub over the road does excellent evening meal. In choosing the White House, I fell on my feet.

Very nice stay, excellent breakfast. Comfy beds. The lady let us into our room early and was very accommodating. Plenty of room for parking and lots of storage. If you aren't from the area taxis are very expensive! From a wedding at Askham Hall it was £30 back.

We wanted to have a family getaway for Christmas 2014 and were pleased to have stayed at the Whitehouse in Clifton for Christmas and Boxing day. Helen, the landlady was pleasant and welcoming and we were lucky to be the only guests with access to the warm living room downstairs. The accomodation was of high quality with a beautiful view... We stayed overnight as a last minute break which my husband booked. We were made very welcome by Helen. Our room was really clean with a nice selection of toiletries . Breakfast was excellent. It was only a few miles from Pooley Bridge which is the top end of Ullswater, so the lakes are easily accessible. We would definitely stay... More

We stayed overnight here. What a lovely welcome we had. The room was lovely and en suite just fine. We had an excellent breKfast and overall are really pleased with the stay. The owner Helen was ever so nice. I'd recommend this stay for more than one night. There's lots of walks nearby and it isn't too far from the... More

This is a very pleasant guest house on the edge of a small village near Penrith. The room overlooked farmland and the large gardens. Helen was very welcoming and I enjoyed a very good 2 night stay. The room was large and clean with a comfortable bed and good facilities the armchairs in the small alcove were nice. There is... More

We have recently spent, a super four nights at The White House, Bed & Breakfast at Clifton on the outskirts of Penrith, Cumbria. The house built in the 1700's is so well situated, for travelling to Scotland or for a trip around the beautiful Lake District. The village of Clifton is quite small, but has plenty of short drives to... More

Helen made provision for our arrival out of hours and all was ready for us after a long flight. Breakfast was delicious and we think Helen deserves the title First Lady. The facilities were very comfortable and restful.

My husband and 13yr old son stayed here after visiting center parcs over half term. We stayed in a triple room which was bright, airy and immaculately clean. Huge fluffy white towels and hot chocolate for my son were very welcome. The room was very quiet with beautiful open views over the countryside. There is a well stocked mini library... More
