This is a very pleasant guest house on the edge of a small village near Penrith. The room overlooked farmland and the large gardens. Helen was very welcoming and I enjoyed a very good 2 night stay. The room was large and clean with a comfortable bed and good facilities the armchairs in the small alcove were nice. There is... More

We have recently spent, a super four nights at The White House, Bed & Breakfast at Clifton on the outskirts of Penrith, Cumbria. The house built in the 1700's is so well situated, for travelling to Scotland or for a trip around the beautiful Lake District. The village of Clifton is quite small, but has plenty of short drives to... More

Helen made provision for our arrival out of hours and all was ready for us after a long flight. Breakfast was delicious and we think Helen deserves the title First Lady. The facilities were very comfortable and restful.

My husband and 13yr old son stayed here after visiting center parcs over half term. We stayed in a triple room which was bright, airy and immaculately clean. Huge fluffy white towels and hot chocolate for my son were very welcome. The room was very quiet with beautiful open views over the countryside. There is a well stocked mini library... More

Nothing was too much trouble. She was so warm and welcoming offering loads of local knowledge and advice on where to go to enjoy... More

We stayed here for a few days after our daughter's wedding. We were warmly welcomed by Helen the proprietor who did everything possible to make our stay enjoyable. Our room in the hotel was sunny, bright and spotlessly clean. It was very comfortable as well as spacious, and we enjoyed relaxing views of the surrounding countryside from our bay window... More

The White House is a convenient location for walking the eastern fells. The accommodation is what you would hope to find; a comfortable bed, adequately sized room that was well stocked with tea making facilities, a TV. The breakfasts were excellent and the George and Dragon Pub, a few minutes walk away, served delicious evening meals. Helen, the proprietor, offered... More
