My husband and I stayed here on a return trip from Scotland. We were tired and so we booked in -room was terrible- mould around a rotting window, dubious stains on the walls and bathroom floor and the wiring to the towel rail had been cur!!. I wrote to them to complain and received a full refund. more

Had booked this hotel but after reading all the reviews and how awfull this place was. I decided to cancel our booking. What a nightmare! I tried several times on the internet but just kept on getting a blank page. I rang Travel lodge Penrith and the girl there said she could not cancel it either. However she did give me... more

This is one of the older Travelodges, which doesn't put me off as I often find they can be well cared for, clean, and friendly staff can make a difference. This one was very gloomy and depressing. The windows in our room were covered in mould, there was chocolate all over the sofabed, hairs in the bathroom (yuk!), and we... more

The room smelled of urine and the bathroom had water on the floor, mould growing up the walls and a unwired towel rail. Reception were useless when we complained and offered no help and did not log our complaint. When we complained to Travel lodge, we were phoned by the manager who said that the room had been refurbished prior... more

Mould in the bathroom, broken toilet seat, broken tiles, Dusty, shabby looking room. Curtains half hanging off the rails. The room was totally unprepared, had to ask at reception for the duvets and bedding for the children. The Little Chef next door was tacky looking, the service was extremely slow, the waiter was disinterested to the point of rudeness. The... more

Traveling around Scotland staying in Travelodges .Travelodge Penrith is the oldest travelodge we have stayed in. Not value for money, very smelly. Little chef next door, variety of menu but not tasty. We learnt a good lesson!!Don't stay in Travelodges that has a Little Chef attatched, these are the oldest ones. more

I too stayed in a hotel room that absolutely STANK of cigarette smoke (I moved room once because of the smell then gave up). The net curtains were dirty, and mould decorated the windows in the first room. In both cases the toilet seat was loose and the bathroom decor in general can be described at best as "tired". I... more

My husband and I paid the full price for 2 nights at this Travelodge. We had to leave after the first night and I can't say that we were sorry. The room (9) stank of stale cigarette smoke so it was off putting from the start. It was tired and in dire need of refurbishment. The bathroom hasn't been updated... more

A bit out of the way and certainly need transport. Ok if you can get the right price/promo deals. Not always easy to book two rooms at promo prices? Beware of the Wetherspoons pubs in the centre of the town, All four in our party suffered serious stomach issues/near food poisoning after eating there on the 30/05/09, we all had... more

Went to this Travelodge for 2 nights recently and thought it gave excellent all round value. The room we were in was away from the main building but there were no problems. On check in the receptionist was very pleasant and helpful, as were other staff members. We were lucky enough to get the £19 saver rate. It was only... more
