Johnby Hall was a very convenient and comfortable stopover on the way to Scotland. We stayed in the Studio which was more like a self- contained property with a sitting room downstairs and a bedroom upstairs. There was a piano for music lovers and loads of information about the local area. Breakfast was delicious and served in the great hall... More

My daughter and i stayed in the studio. We both loved it. It was very comfortable and homely. The breakfast in the "great hall" was delicious and the family who run Johnby Hall were very welcoming. The Hall is located in wonderful countryside providing a real break away from it all.

We stayed at Johnby Hall on a Sunday night in early June 2015. Our room was the Studio, which is a cottage, previously converted to an artist's studio, with a large sitting room, large bedroom, and bathroom with bath, shower and a great oaken throne (an additional/ more powerful light in the bathroom would improve the room). There are lots... More

We have stayed at Johnby Hall for four consecutive years on our way from Surrey to Scotland, taking both rooms. Not only is it well-situated, near the M6 and Lake District, but it is a truly fabulous place - wonderful setting, wonderful gardens, wonderful rooms and wonderful hospitality. Henry and Anna and children are welcoming, friendly and relaxed. The rooms... More

We loved staying here. We were in the Kelly suite which is made up of a large bedroom, a decent-sized sitting room and a separate toilet and bathroom. We would not describe Johnby Hall as 'luxury' as the Wolsey Lodges website implies; its attractions are that it is historic, romantic and welcoming. Also, staying in the Kelly Suite is like... More

This, as others have written, is a beautiful place to stay. The main house and our accommodation - we stayed in The Kelly Suite - oozed historical charm. We were lucky to have very pleasant weather and this showed just how special the place clearly is. Henry, Anna, the lovely kids and caretaker were very welcoming - tea, cakes and... More

We stayed at Johnby Hall for 1 night we were welcomed by Anna, Henry, Nicholas and Lucy who were all very friendly and hospitable. Anna made us coffee and cakes we had in the lovely garden. We were shown the studio and Anna offered to put the heating on. We were leaving early on the Sunday morning 5.30am ish so... More

We have stayed at many Wolsey Lodges and were disappointed by this property. We felt the description on the website hugely overstated the reality. While Anna and Henry were friendly, from the general chaos and lack of organisation, we had the impression they had taken on too much and couldn't give the necessary time and attention to guests or the... We recently stayed at Johnby Hall for a weekend break and fell in love with the place immediately. Johnby is a stunning property in a wonderful location, the B&B accommodation was perfect and was filled with beautiful pieces of furniture including the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in and lovely little details; freshly picked flowers from the garden,... I stayed at Johnby en route to Scotland along with two couples, one of whom was travelling back from Scotland, having also stayed at Johnby on their way up to Scotland. Henry and Anna were really welcoming hosts and supper felt very much like a dinner party; the food was also very tasty. Johnby is a very relaxing and tranquil... More
