We were camping in the Lake District and realised how close we were to the Sharrow Bay so booked in for dinner The service and food were exceptionally good. It wasn't cheap but you get what you pay for at the restaurant Will go back next time we are camping in that area More

After a long trip through the Lakes, we arrived a a tranquil and stunnig hotel with a beautiful room (Grace) with aawelcome complimentary sherry to get us in the mood for the sumptuous food ahead... A treat. Oh and I highly recommend the porridge for breakfast. More

I stayed in a room perched just yards above the battering waves of Ullswater ( I spent a lot of time looking out during the night, as the noise of the storm didn't favour sleep.) I breakfasted overlooking the sweep of rolling waves, white mountains and blizzards racing across the lake. A totally stunning experience and totally priceless. Worth twice... More

We took our daughter and son-in-law to Sharrow Bay for lunch, celebratng their silver wedding. Sitting in the comfortable lounge with a glass of champagne while we surveyed the 5-course lunch menu, there was a real anticipation of something really special. And really special it was. As one would expect in such a hotel, the wine list is extensive -... More

We were treated to a Sunday lunch by friends. I am a vegetarian. All four of us have the most brilliant food. All 5 of my courses were wonderful, and so were my friends. For £45 a head for, its a good price for the food and setting. I will definately be going again. More

I recently stayed at Sharrow Bay which I booked as a surprise for my wife for our first anniversary. The area is lovely, although the weather wasn't the best when we arrived. Whilst everyone was very nice during our stay and the food was allright, it was just way too overpriced. As a wedding anniversary present I didn't mind "splashing"... More

After reading some of the other reviews on here I felt I had to review our stay here. We were made to feel very welcome the moment we arrived and taken to our lovely room overlooking the lake. Yes I agree with some other reviewers, the rooms could do with decorating but they were clean, spacious and charming, and in... More

We recently stayed here for the second time and were once again taken with its 'old world charm'. You won't find the words 'contemporary' and 'Sharrow Bay' in the same sentence but you are assured of a warm welcome and some timeless hospitality in this self-styled 'Country House Hotel' (and apparently home of the world's first 'sticky toffee pudding'). We've... More

I had some slight trepidation given the mixture of reviews ahead of a trip for dinner at Sharrow Bay. In fact my wife and I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, excellent food, lovely wine and extremely attentive but not over powering service. The fish, plaice in my case and sea bass in my wife's being the star of the show.... More

A 3 day break was the last opportunity before the wife and I are joined by our first child in December. We needed somewhere remote and relaxing which Sharrow Bay provides in spades. We cashed in some airmiles which gave us the accommodation at a B&B price but we could not help wonder how we might have felt if we... More
