I cannot believe that people still have the audacity to misrepresent in an effort to extort money from honest hardworking people. As a driver i spend many hours on service stations throughout the country and am well aware of the inflated prices that they all charge. I feel thoroughly embarrassed to have been conned to come and stay here for... more

Went up to Scotland on business at last minute - Decided to drive from offices in Nottingham one evening My parents suggested I stayed at Tebay on the night to break the journey up - My initial reaction was no way! They had stayed there before on a couple of walking weekends and said I would be pleasantly surprised. I... more

Tucked behind in my mind the best Motorway services in the UK The Westmorland Hotel is owned by the same individuals and you can tell that attention to detail that is lacking in so many chain owned hotels. There is a relaxing calm here with log fires burning, cosy couches to relax, a great selection of snacks and an even... more

Despite a previous review, we found that our third visit to this hotel lived up to the previously high standards we have come to expect. The hotel is set in such lovely countryside, it is well run by helpful and pleasant staff who react quickly to any request. The breakfast is excellent and as vegetarians, we are well catered for.... more

Stayed for one night on the return trip from Scotland. Very mediocre and totally lacking in any atmosphere. Enormous room, but felt empty. Everything was clean, although could do with some updating, especially the bathroom. Bed was a bit "lumpy" as were the pillows. The fire door outside our room banged every time someone went through so a little annoying.... more

Most of the reviewers are Brits, so here's a North American perspective: for anyone driving North or South on the M6 (e.g. to or from Lake District, Yorkshire Dales, Scotland, etc. ) this is arguably the most delightful Service Area and Hotel, a rebuttal to the reputation in Britain for mediocrity for motorway service stops. For us, we stayed at... more

Beautifully designed modern building, bedrooms recently refurbished to a very high standard, interesting lounge, bar and restaurant areas, and wonderful views over the spectacular countryside - and only two minutes off the M 6. Add to that, delicious food of a very high standard, all sourced locally, it's a great place to stop off on a long journey. We enjoyed... more

I wasnt sure what to think of this - it was the venue for my friends wedding reception and most of the guests stayed here too. It was wonderful. The food was fantastic, the rooms were clean and well equipped, the staff are wonderful. Great location so near to the motorway but you would never know there was a motorway... more

Me and my partner stayed at the hotel for 2 nights, and it was faultless. Everywhere was clean, staff were friendly, convenient location just off the motorway but once inside the hotel you'd never know it was a stones throw away. The restaurant in particular was excellent with some of the best food we'd ever tasted. Highly recommended to anyone. more
