I have just had a fantastic weekend at the Glenridding Hotel. The staff were excellent, friendly, helpful and very attentive. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The party I was in ate both nights we were there and we didn't have a bad meal (there were 6 of us!). I have stayed in a lot of hotels and I... more

As far as value for money, this hotel has to be one of the worst places we have ever stayed. We paid £150 a night for a room that was no better than a dormitory (room 45). The room faced the street with twin beds. There was barely any room to move around let alone store a suitcase! The noise... more

Pretty good standard of hotel in lovely area. My room had a lake view and all the usual facilities you would expect. The hotel had a swimming pool which was a decent size and the breakfast was very good. more

We stayed here on the 8th, and 9th of August, having had a disappointing stay at the the Inn on the lake 3 weeks previously. We stayed in Superior room No.3 called "Raven" The bathroom is new and extremely large, the room has a 4 poster bed, which we felt was a bit small for us, having said that we... more

Room No3 Raven 1. Poor ventilation as one window half was screwed shut, other half the top sash painted shut and lower sash only opens. 2. Mismatched furniture, the wardrobe door catch sticks out, it is sharp and cannot be retracted - hazardous. 3. Steps from the Bathroom into bedroom are hazardous for the tread depth is too shallow not... more

We have just spent the weekend at the hotel. The manager, housekeeper and all the staff were very friendly and welcolming. They were prepared to , and did, go the extra mile to be accomodating. The food and service could not be faulted. The rooms were clean, tidy and warm. The extra facilities, including the swimming pool, snooker table and... more

This place makes Fawlty Towers look like a smooth running first class establishment. Staff rude. Food terrible. The microwave ping follwed 30 secs later by the food arriving is laughable. Service in the restaurant was non existent. Staff worked behind the bar too and prefered that and chating to their mates to serving customers. When I went to complain to... more

We have now been to this Hotel 4 times and can certainly reccomend it highly. Fabulous location at the heart of the ( small ) village and 5 min's to the Lake shore . Great base for walking the many fells and peaks that surround it including the third highest peak in the Lakes , Helvelyn . ( a very... more

Stayed for a short break to get away from it all. I picked this hotel because it advertised a residents bar, restaurant, pub, pool & superior rooms. Given the weather I thought this'd be a safe bet if it was too wet to do much sightseeing. Staff: not very welcoming, gave off a 'couldn't care less' vibe. Not interested in... more

'Family' room quite cramped. Gorgeous restaurant BUT only open for breakfast! This I found a major disappointment - we were shephered downstairs into the bar for our evening meal which was not cheap and average. Listening to locals watching football on large t.v. spoiled it - there was no atmosphere. Had to send a medium rare steak back which was... more
