I really don't know what the negative posters on this site expect from such a place - I travelled with a group of friends (8 in total) and 5 dogs and we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The rooms were absolutely fine at this price point, and the food - in particular the breakfasts - was superb. It's not... more

Very mediocre food, priced at gastro pub prices. Grumpy and disorganised service. more

Very tastefully decorated rooms, all done to a high standard and finish. A very relaxed feel to our stay. We ate in the restaurant for both nights and found the food to be a very good standard at a reasonable price. The only grumble was that the wine list was very overpriced based on the same wine in similar restaurants.... more

Myself and my family went to the restaurant on the evening of 13th April 2009 for a meal. We had booked the table previously and there were seven of us in total. We were slightly early and seated immediately. Our orders were taken and it took about 20 minutes for the 3 ordered starters to arrive. These arrived at 18.45... more

Absolutely amazing, everything and more. This is a truly special place and we will definitely be returning. From the minute we arrived to the minute we left it was absolutely divine. The rooms luxurious, the service impeccable, the food utterly delicious. You can see why the Punch Bowl has won the awards it has. The ambience is breathtaking just like... more

Booked an early table for dinner at The Punchbowl as we did not want to be late. We had to wait for over an hour for our dinner to arrive, and no one took any notice of us or apologised for the delay. The menu was promising, but the promise was empty. The dishes were pretentious, unmemorable and over priced.... more

We stayed at the Punch Bowl in Askham on the recommendation of a friend who was getting married in the area. The website for the pub does not do it justice and our expectations weren't great so we were very happy when we arrived to a warm welcome and were shown to very comfortable and homely rooms. Our first night... more

We stayed at this hotel after staying for one night at the Drunken Duck in Ambleside. This is as lovely but in a different way. The Duck is much cosier and the Punch Bowl much more glamorous (but still in a quaint type of way). I cannot decide which is my favourite as they both have different strengths. We stayed... more

Stayed for two nights for my wife's 30th. Overall feeling of the stay was a nice friendy country pub. There are 6 rooms and the room we had was well presented and had every thing you need, en suite with coffee and tea, television. Great location to explore Ullswater and area. There is a good local store in the village... more
