We stayed for 2 nights in a rainy week, but the warmth, help and welcome we received at Lowthwaite made our stay an absolute joy. Tine could not have been more friendly and helpful, and guided us on 2 great local walks in this beautiful part of the National Park above Ullswater. We stayed in the Blencathra room, which has... My husband and I stayed here for two nights in mid-March and absolutely loved the location. Tine welcomed us and provided details of places to eat nearby and had baked a couple of chocolate chip muffins placed at the side of excellent tea & coffee making facilities (all of which are Fairtrade). We did get a little lost coming back... More

My family and I stayed at the Lowthwaite in February for three nights. This is the second time we have stayed, the last time being in Summer 2012. The location is quiet, peaceful and in beautiful surroundings. The owners put you at ease as soon as you arrive and you may find a freshly made cake or muffin in your... More

Just back from a fabulous family weekend at Lowthwaite. Jim and Tine hosted 11 of us, spanning 3 generations and we all felt totally welcome and at home. The accommodation was warm and comfortable, and spacious, the dinner was superb and we loved the range of options for breakfast and the helpful suggestions for an all age walk. A special... More

The minute we arrived at Lowthwaite in this fantastic setting we were made to feel very welcome. We were shown to our Blencathra Room, beautifully clean, amazingly furnished in their beautiful furniture! We had absolutely everything we needed, we were warm, comfortable & happy! In the room there was a selection of teas, coffee hot chocolate...decaf if wanted. There were... More

We stayed at Lowthwaite B&B in February 2014 for three nights. The hosts were wonderful and it felt like staying at home there. Tine our hostess was brilliant with her knowledge of the local places to visit. I still remember the wonderful breakfast she prepared for us. Weather was quite damp when we visited but the experience made it up... More

I am a little reluctant to tell what delights are in store at breakfast as Lowthwaite is already extremely popular and I want to be able to return. It was difficult to tear myself away from Tine's home made cakes, bread, jams etc and that was before the main event. The setting is also a delight!

We knew when we first visited Lowthwaite in October 2013 that we would be returning for more visits. Our second visit between 21 February and 25 February was as excellent as the first. We arrived on the Friday evening and was greeted by Tine who welcomed us both and showed us to our room the Helvellyn. We have now stayed... More

Visited Lowthwaite B&B in february with my daughter, intent on lots of walking and girly time together. We had both, as well as the most amazing food, breakfast is definitely a treat! The B&B is lovely and warm, with all the facillities you'd need after a day on the fells. Baths and tons of hot water! There are drying facillities... More
