Even though I stayed only for one night it has been a fantastic stay at the Lowthwaite B&B. It´s location hiding in the Lake District is brilliant. Both owner are very hospitable and willing to help you at any time. The organic food created by Tine is absolutely delighting, The American style pancake was possibly the best I have ever... More

Just returned following a two-night stay with my 6 year old son and had a blissful time. We loved the spacious 'Matterdale' room with its beautiful furniture and own entrance. All the food we sampled was out of this world - we especially enjoyed the pancakes with bacon and the homemade porridge with rhubarb. A very special place with friendly,... More

After getting lost (avoid using a sat nav) we arrived late and in the dark but couldn't have been greeted more hospitably. Rooms are large and furnished to an extremely good standard. Lovely hosts with interesting stories to tell. Lovely quality breakfast eaten watching the red squirrels. Highly recommended. More

There were lots of thoughful touches by the owners, such as a delicious homemade muffin each on arrival and fresh milk for the room. We stayed in the garden room and it was really special to watch and hear... More

What a fantastic place! Hidden away in a secluded hillside spot with fabulous scenery and nature all around. Plus the superb hospitality of Jim and Tine. And all a stone's throw from the M6, with brilliant access to the Lake District around Ullswater. Highlights were the scrumptious light-as-a-feather pancakes, spying on the red squirrel over breakfast, the amazingly comfortable and... More

This is most definitely the best b & b we have stayed in. The room was gorgeous with our own private garden, with wildlife all around. The breakfast was amazing, and Tine and Jim were extremely helpful and accommodating. I would, and have, recommended this little gem to everyone. Thanks again Tine and Jim More

This is one of the most peaceful and secluded places we have stayed in. It really does nestle into the fellside and you drive or walk off in the morning into utter gorgeousness. Jim and Tine are superb hosts, being friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Jim’s experience as a trail guide means that walkers’ needs are carefully attended to.... More
