Recentlyreturned from a lovely two night stay in the Garden Room. The room was spotlessly clean and it was delightful watching from our window the great variety of birds in the garden. Breakfasts were superb – a choice of cooked breakfasts and a range of home-made produce including granola, bread, muffins and jam; Tine also went to great lengths to... More

Ok, wow! My girlfriend and I chose this as our accommodation for a vacation in the beautiful lake district. In so many ways Lowthwaite single handedly turned what I suspect might otherwise have been a good 3 star holiday into a superb 5 star holiday! Hosts Tine and Jim are wonderful. Our stay was so good we extended by one... More

This place is a real gem. The rooms are tasteful and the atmosphere is very relaxed. All four rooms come with extra large beds which is quite unusual. The location is quiet and out of the way. The road on which the B&B is located is a minor road which means there is virtually no traffic. The building itself is... More

A fabulous stay in a very peaceful location. Superb food with an extensive choice for breakfast. We stayed in the 'Garden room' which is very cosy and like all of Lowtwaite, is tastefully decorated and well cared for. The hosts have excellent knowledge of the area and are very helpful with planning walks. The best b&q in the lakes.

We recently spent two nights in the Blencathra room at Lowthwaite and were delighted with our stay. The room was spotlessly clean, the beds extremely comfortable and it was great to have the little upstairs seating area with a selection of teas and coffee (even excellent filter coffee and a little cafetiere) with fresh milk available from the fridge in... Fantastic, welcoming, helpful hosts. Gorgeous food, beautiful rooms, very comfortable beds. Organic, environmentally friendly and in a stunning location - we could not ask for anything more. Jim and Tine provided great local information and advice on hikes/walks

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Lowthwaite. The room was comfortable and very well decorated and maintained. The views across the fells were beautiful and the local birds, a plenty. We could watch them at close proximity from our window, it was lovely to see. The breakfasts cooked by Tine are delicious and the service and chat from the couple... More

I had been looking at this bed and breakfast for some time as a place I would like to stay. I booked for my husbands birthday and worried that I would be disappointed but luckily I was not, even though my husband was not feeling good, we had a lovely stay and were more than well looked after. The food... More

Stayed for 3 nights in Oct 14 in the Blencathra Room. Duplex style room with the Bedroom downstairs and a sitting area/bathroom upstairs. The hosts were very friendly and accommodating. Had a different cooked breakfast (full English, smoked salmon with spinach) each day. Preceded by a varying assortment of home made goodies (bread, muffins, grenola, gooseberries in cinnamon sauce (to... More
