Tom, the young Czech lad who checked me in was top drawer. The other Czech lad seemed similar though out interaction was less. The only negative being they were clearly a distraction for the very attractive lady friend who joined me for dinner ! Who I took for landlady, I guess proprietress, was very proper and responsive, but didn't ooze... More

We went to the restaurant on the recommendation of the B&B where we were staying for two nights. It was so good that we went for dinner on both nights. The service was first class and the whole meal was great experience

We stayed for a few nights but were given quite a small, tight room. Only a small wardrobe which meant our cases had to lie on the floor with some of our clothing. Making a cup of tea was a little tricky - kettle and cups on a shelf 4'6" high. If you're a bit short, be careful. Hairdryer, room... More

Unfortunately we had a bad start to our day as our car broke down 20 miles from home (Worcester) and eventually had to be towed away. So we were approx 5 hours late in starting our journey and had phoned to say we would be late arriving. We arrived at 10.30 and thought we'd have a well earned drink. We... More

The Troutbeck Inn is in a lovely location close to Lake Ullswater. We chose this accommodation because it's pet friendly and reasonably priced. Check in was from 2pm but we arrived around 12 midday to find the outside door was locked and we were unable to get in! There was an intercom we could buzz so that somebody could let... More

We regularly visit the Troutbeck inn for drinks as we often stay at the caravan site across the road. We decided to have our evening meal here whilst staying in april, must say my family and I eat out a lot but this is one of the best meals we have had whist being in the Lakes. We are staying... Good, dog friendly restaurant that provides good food, friendly bar staff and junior waitresses, but let down by one individual with a bit of an attitude. This is a shame as my lasting impression (despite the good menu) is that I will not be going back. Suspect the waitress / manager person will not really give a toss!

We stayed in the saddleback cottage which is situated within the grounds of the pub. Both were lovely for a weekend visit to the lakes. We ate at the pub one night and the food was fantastic. The restaurant is cosy and inviting however the front of house left a little to be desired. The same lady showed us to... More
