We make the 240 mile round trip to the Northern lakes once every 2 or 3 weeks. This time we wanted something more than the usual pub meal for our anniversary. I rang to book only the day before and the voice at the other end sounded quite surprised at someone ringing to book. We turned up at the booked... More

We booked a last minute night away at this Inn. On arrival, as others have mentioned it wasn't the warmest of welcomes, but efficient. Downstairs looks newly renovated and it's been done well. It's comfy and stylish with a hint of quirkiness. Unfortunately the same couldn't be said of our 'superior room'. It was large, and clean but quite tired.... More

Called in at 1.15pm last Tuesday hoping to order lunch but we were told no food being served. We had hoped to try dinner as well another as we were staying nearby but were put off by the abrupt attitude. Interesting to read other reviews. Food may be good but we weren't given a chance to experience.

We visited here last Thursday evening around 6. It only serves food between 6 and 8 the reception we got when we enquired about eating there was one I would call cold and putt out from the lady behind the bar. The pub has a warm homely feel with a real log fire. My wife had the salmon and I... More

Stopped by for dinner with my partner after a long day walking. Sat by the fire and had some local ale, before sitting down to a delicious meal. The food was superb. We had the mussels, followed by beef and lamb and a sticky toffee pudding to finish with. Only thing that let the place down was the atmosphere created... More

I was on holiday with three friends and two dogs and we dined at the Troutbeck Inn. The dinner menu was excellent with a lot of creative combinations. Pricing was reasoable, especially for the starters. The quality was very high. I had a memorably good fillet steak with a red wine reduction and wholeheartedly recommend this establishment for dinner.

Stayed here on Friday night as needed to do some business on Saturday morning in Penrith. It was in an excellent location with good access to main roads. The room was perfect for a one night stay - clean and comfortable. After we had completed the business early on Saturday morning, we returned to hand in our keys. This was... More

I stayed in a single room that was functional, comfortable and certainly large enough for one. The en suite was clean and functional. Dinner was excellent, with an extensive menu. Breakfast was also very good and service was prompt. All in all good value for money and far enough from the M6 to be in the magnificent Lakes.

Wonderfully comfortable, cosy and classy inn. Excellent service from all the staff. Delicious, varied dinner menu. Large, clean room with a super-kingsize bed. A really welcome and refreshing break on a long journey!

Ate dinner here two nights in a row whilst staying at B&B across the road. Large portions, scrumptious sauce and excellent variety on the menu! Went with my gran, who has restricted dietary requirements, but she thoroughly enjoyed her meal! Staff all very friendly (including manager!). Handy location too.
