Have just spent another weekend at this little hotel, have been visiting for 8 years now and still love it. Some may say it is a little run down here and there but where the food, service, comfort and cleanliness are concerned it cannot be faulted. Richard and his staff do a very good job.

Second stay at this hotel. Again friendly welcome, this time was in room 4. Room was clean and bed was extremely comfortable. Hotel was happy to serve us breakfast early (at 7.30) when asked and breakfast was very good. I had 2 meals here - the steak pie and the ribs. Both very nice, chips are frozen ones but well... More

Found this hotel on the internet and noticed special deal dinner bed and breakfast for £99 , Great value, food was excellent, staff very friendly and the room was warm clean and comfortable. Used this hotel as a stopover between Scotland and Manchester which proved to be ideal, easy to find just off the motorway.

this hotel is like a £39 tradesman bed and breakfast.... the rooms are small...with very tired flaking artex decorated walls...in saying that the bed was very comfy and i had a good nights sleep... the ensuite was 1970's style and well past its best...there were mismatched tiles...mouldy walls...and the shower cubicle needed a good clean. The restaurant is the best... More

Stayed at the Brantwood on a cold a wet night in early Feb, arrived 6 pm ish and shown straight to our room, on booking we had been told it was going to be one of the rooms not refurbished yet, and it showed, artex everywhere, tiny tiny bathroom, cracks everywhere, carpet from the 60s, what looked like a 6"... We have stayed here three times now over the last 12 months, the food is gorgeous, the hotel is always clean and tidy, I agree with some comments that there are some areas which are in need of some tlc but not worth knocking a place which is so lovely. The staff are friendly and chatty, a lovely receptionist checked... More

Like one of the other contributors we used the Brantwood as a stopover between Scotland and visiting our daughter in South Wales. We had a little trouble finding it, but once we got there it was lovely. The staff were friendly and helpful and the fod in the reastaurant was very good. One of the things I liked best was... More

What a great find for us! Decided to break the trip between Scotland and Wales in Cumbria, just for a change. Found this place and read the reviews on tripadvisor before booking - looked and sounded good so went for it. We were certainly not disappointed from the moment we arrived until we left the next morning. The staff and... More
