Sadly we weren't staying at Brantwood Country Hotel, but we found it for dinner close to where we were stopping en route to Glasgow. The staff were very welcoming and the menu was great. The homemade steak and ale pie was absolutely delicious, and the winter special menu is a very good deal. We'd love to go back next time... More

When we walked in it looks a bit dated, but as you walk further in you can see its a work in progress. We had a drink at the bar and checked in,the room was lovely and modern ,and the bed was very comfortable, very clean too which is good as im a head housekeeper in a hotel myself. But what makes this place... If you want to explore the lake district and want a place to stay at a reasonable price I recommend you try Brantwood. The restaurant was fully booked on the day we checked in. (Saturday night) I took this as a good indication that the food was good because it was local people who were eating there. The rooms were... More

The staff were lovely, helpful and accommodating. The food was good, vegetables slightly underdone which we like , breakfast was amazing! Room was not great. Bathroom was very cold, room was very cold, bed was very comfortable though. The rate we paid was very much reduced, I would not consider this to be good value at the higher price. One... More

My wife and I stayed here on the Saturday after New Year. We had the hotel more or less to ourselves for the afternoon which was wonderful. The restaurant was busy that evening however and there was a lovely atmosphere. The food was first class and the service exemplary. Our room(0/7)was beautifully cosy and as the hotel wasn't busy it... More

my family had a delicious meal at the restaurant and the staff were brilliant! They were very efficient , friendly and only too willing to please. The hotel was busy but this did not stop the staff from doing their job admirably. I would recommend it to anyone. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. We will definitely go again. Happy new year Brantwood!

This was our second visit to the Brantwood and I'm glad we went back. Only a couple of days before Christmas and it was very quiet. This time we decided to eat and the meal was very enjoyable and pretty good value. We were also in room 6 again which is very nice. The chap who runs it, think he's... More

we booked through Booking.com and got a very nice double room for £50 including a great breakfast. Lovely old but recently renovated country inn. Great choice of food and beers, wine prices very reasonable. Breakfast choices were outstanding and we seemed only ones there, best kippers I have had in years. Just two miles from J40 in Penrith. Great bargain and... More

My wife and I booked a 2 night stay, room, been in before, quite cold, had to leave bathroom door open to allow electric underfloor heating in there to warm bedroom! Complained at bar (twice within one hour) and then young woman employee went to 'boost' the boiler (heat came through then! she says she forgot on first request) and... More

Hotel was pleasant and welcoming. Room 2 was very cold when we arrive around 6pm. The additional heaters in the room did heat up the room but took a while. The room was adequate but needs some TLC. The meal in the restaurant was superb! Steak was perfectly cooked and well presented. Wine was reasonably priced and the separation of... More
