We went for Sunday lunch last weekend and had the carvery - good quality local lamb and beef, fresh veg, proper roast potatoes and giant yorkshire puddings ! It was all beatifully cooked and served by friendly staff. We just had to try the grand marnier trifle for afters, which was perfect. We asked to see the rooms and were shown round by the owner Neil who is also the Head Chef - we looked several which were all individually decorated, with stylish furniture and decorative touches added by Jillian, Neil's wife. The entire hotel is fresh and has a warm welcoming feeling, especially the cosy front bar where we sampled a glass of good quality house red wine - we would definitely come back and stay and look forward to having dinner in the restaurant. We looked round Keswick afterwards (leaving our car in the hotel carpark, as the town was within easy walking distance) and loved the town, with plenty of individual shops and sights to see, including dramatic views of the Skiddaw... more
