Pros: -Friendly hosts -Nice breakfasts -Comfortable beds -Pretty fell views from upper floors -Location is very convenient to Keswick center Cons: -Parking is very tight, and very limited. This might faze Americans more than Brits. -Rooms are great for sleeping but less comfortable for sitting/relaxing -Common space limited to breakfast room -Area can be a little noisy on weekends, but... We have just had a very cosy weekend in keswick staying at the Ellergill Guest House on Stanger Street. We normally choose this part of Keswick because after a long day in the fells, Stanger Street is ideally situated for the town centre and is quiet at night. We stayed on a Saturday and Sunday night with a last minute... More

A little delayed in writing this review but feel that Ellergill Guest House still deserves recognition. As a first timer to the Lakes, I had no idea on where to stay but I could not have asked for better. We stayed in Room 1, which was spacious, clean, comfortable, decorated lovely and had a wonderfully large and comfortable bed. The... More

A fantastic overnight stay, the best bed, other than our own, we have ever slept in, beautiful room, everything you could ask for, compared to our recent stay in a 4 star hotel in Rome this wonderful B&B would rate as 8 star, attention to detail is great, very good quality breakfast, Claire and Robin are generous hosts, friendly and... Stayed here on many occasions and it never fails to impress. The owners Robin and Clare know how to be attentive but not intrusive, which can be rare in B&Bs. Wonderful breakfasts that are pure quality and don't leave you to full to walk. We enjoy are stays here more and more every time we come, and hope it never changes.

I have just returned from Ellergill. The room was absolutely spotless and beautifully furnished. Clare and Robin are lovely, friendly and helpful. The location is excellent. You really could not expect anything more from a B and B.

Myself and my husband managed to escape family life for a whole 24 hrs and ended knocking on the door of the Ellergill. The owner's were very friendly and were able to offer us their last room. It was a very clean, quiet and comfortable room and had all the amenities we required. It didn't even bother us that the... More

Great location, just a few minutes walk from the town centre. Our group of 4 had the 2 large rooms (1&4) which were spotlessly clean and had everything you need plus little treats were left on the bed which was a nice gesture. After we had climbed Haystacks in glorious sunshine there was plenty of hot water on our return.... More

We stayed multiple nights at the Ellergill and were happy with it. If you're in the Lakes District to hike, Clare and Robin are full of helpful information and you can walk out the front door and be on your way. The rooms are clean and beds on the firm side. When we came back after a wet day of... More

My husband and I recently had the opportunity ( thanks to lovely Granparents!) for a rare 'child free' break. We decided to book Ellergill, based on its proximity to Keswick town centre as well as Derwent Water and the surrounding mountains. We had a great time, Robin and Clare were very friendly, welcoming and gave good advice on walking routes,... More
