We ate at the Royal oak after rave reviews from friends, sadly it did not live up to our hopes. The Inn itself is immaculate and they have done a great job on the refurb, the facilities we used were all very clean, our waitress was lovely and we would not criticize her performance in any way. The let down... More

Booked the Royal Oak in Keswick as we had planned a two day break to do some fell walking. A good choice, the place has recently been fully refurbished to a high standard, we had a nice airy room, the weather was really hot, and the big sash window opened up nicely on to the pedestrian area opposite the Moot... This is the first time we have stayed at The Royal Oak. The hotel has a refurbishment which is really nice but in our room No: 12 we could not get the windows opened they had been painted shut, spoke to the manager Tim he said they would have to get a scaffold to release the window. I did get... More

Just returned from a 2 night stay at the Royal Oak, staff were lovely and friendly, I have stayed here previously when it was the 'Inn'. It was quite expensive to stay here, so I expected the basics to be right, baring in mind this has been mentioned before in previous posts. We arrived after 2 pm which was fine,... More

Eleven of us stayed for 3 nights from 04/07/14 to 07/07/14 and overall enjoyed our stay. We have stayed here twice before the last time being 3 years ago when it was called the Inn at Keswick. Since it's recent refurbishment it has changed its name but the whole establishment looks much brighter and fresher. The rooms are light and... More

We've just come back from a visit to Keswick where we had a meal at the royal oak. We arrived at 11.30 and ordered food after asking if we could. Once we given the order, the waiter came and said that they didn't serve food until 12 and offered us a bread basket (even though they were going to start... More

We visited Keswick as a birthday treat to attend the theatre by the lake and an overnight stay. After returning from the theatre we went to the room to discover there wasn't any water to the hand basin. We spoke to a pleasant lady who would show us how it worked , unfortunately she couldn't get it to work either!!... More

We visited during a week in the Lake District and had quite a nice evening in what was obviously shiny new surroundings. The young lady waitress was not particularly confident and I felt, would benefit from more training in ensuring a good experience to guests. She was eager to please but lacked experience and was rushed off her feet, whilst... More

Just got back in from having dinner at the Royal Oak Keswick. We have eaten there twice before and both times had an excellent meal, this time was very different. First I ordered drinks at the bar and unknown to the bar man the lemonade had run out so we received two shandys with soda. After pointing this out to... More
