We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. There were only 7 people in the hotel. The rooms were clean and of an average size .Beds were good and the bathrooms were a good size. Our evening dinners were of an excellent quality, 3 courses for £15.00 pp.Good wine list, good kept real ales .Fantastic breakfasts. more

We wanted somewhere quiet, that's what we expected from their website and exactly what we got. A fantastic remote location, but still on the main road, (which we never heard), and only 5-6 miles south of Keswick town centre. Ample parking, quick efficient booking in, a lovely family room big enough for a family of 4 including two large messy... more

We found this hotel by mistake a few years ago and decided to go back for our anniversary(not just because they have Gosset champagne)but because the service and staff our always very high quality. The food is always to a very high standard the sea bass with lobster sauce was fantastic. The room we had both times was a four poster with... more

We spent the New Year at the Kings Head and had a lovely stay. The surrounding scenery is stunning and the hotel is situated perfectly for some spectacular walking. Yes the room was small but clean and warm with plenty of hot water. The food was very good and the service excellent. We read the reviews here before we went... more

Have just returned from a two night break in the lakes with my fiance. Arrived at the Kings Head around 12pm to check in before going out for the day. After checking in we used the toilets in the bar - none of them would flush and the taps would not work, which I thought was odd but disregarded it.... more

When we first pulled up to the Kings Head Hotel I was in awe. The hotel has tons of character and is in a beautiful spot in the countryside. Very easy to find too. It isn't within walking distance to Keswick, which is our favorite spot in the Lakes but it was only approx 15 min drive away. The staff... more

We arrived late at night without having booked and were delighted with the service and quality of this hotel. The room was small but spotlessly clean and adequate for a one night stay. The cooked breakfast was excellent and we thought the price was very reasonable. I get the impression this hotel has improved as the reviews have all been... more

A long awaited 2 day break, and the Kings Head, Thilrmere was the perfect place to relax after an exhilerating day in the great outdoors (we had sunshine!!) ..... 'oldy worldy' environment with a touch of modern in the bar area, wonderful open fires, delicious food, comfy bed (!), hot powerful shower, and friendly, helpful staff, who work exceedingly hard... more

Given a good forecast for the Lakes, we arrived to dull and drizzly, but the welcome we received made up for the weather. Although our room was smallish, we had all the 'conveniences' we needed, and it was cosy to return to after an excellent dinner in the formal dining room, (there were bar meals available, but as it was... more

We returned to the Kings Head after thirty years to find that it was just what we had remembered, a quiet, slighty eccentric country Inn. The staff were polite , helpful and pleasant throughout our 4 day stay. The standard of service at times was a little amateur but I sometime think this is not such a bad thing (... more
