We stayed in a Skiddaw suite which was really comfy and clean with lovely views. My daughter really loved the place, especially reading the books provided and chasing the wild rabbit which surprisingly visited the lovely garden. Breakfast was delicious and generous enough. There were plenty of brochures and maps giving information about the surrounding area. Sue and Clive are... More

We have now stayed at Thornthwaite Grange at least 8 times and each time we really enjoy ourselves. Clive and Sue are fantastic hosts and always really welcoming. They have also tried out most of the things to do near there so there are always suggestions of what you could do or where to go depending on what your interests... More

Always a pleasure to see you, Danny, and Emma. You ought to be here today (9th April). Beautiful weather, new-born lambs in the field opposite, and our guests having afternoon tea in the garden. Good luck in your up-coming triathlon. Come and see us again soon. More

We visited Thornthwaite Grange with my parents for the weekend and we had a fantastic weekend. Not only was the weather perfect but Thornthwaite was a great base. Really friendly and welcoming hosts, spotlessly clean, lovely breakfasts and a great location for walking straight from the front door. This was a great find and we will definitely return and recommend... More

Thank you for such a nice review. It was a pleasure to have the 4 of you(and George, of course !) staying with us. As you will have seen, we are located in the centre of "runner's paradise", so we do hope your idea of coming to us later in the year with a running group comes to fruition. Kind... More

We stayed at Thornthwaite Grange for a week end. After a 5 hour drive we got a lovely welcome from Sue who also brought us tea and cakes directly in the room, which was much appreciated. Our room, Catsbell, was large and well decorated, with superb views. All the available maps and info helped us planned a lovely walk in... More

We have stayed at Thornthwaite Grange 3 times now and each time we have had an excellent stay. Sue and Clive are most welcoming, all the facilities are of a high standard and the rooms are all a good size . No worries if you have wet clothes/boots from a days walking...leave them in the hall and they reappear next... More

Given that we only booked this lovely guest house a few days before half term our family of 2 adults and 3 teenagers were delighted to be given the suite on the top floor. Very clean, quiet and comfortable, and the breakfasts are brilliant. The best assets in the house are Clive, who knows all the best walks in the... More

We (2 adults, 2 children aged 7 and 10) have stayed at Thornthwaite Grange several times, the most recently for three nights in late August. Thornthwaite is just outside Keswick and the locale is perfect, escaping the busy town, but close enough to take advantage of its facilities. Clive and Sue are friendly and welcoming hosts, to both adults and... More

We have just returned from 2 nights at this guest house ( our second visit) - and we would not hesitate to return. We have stayed at many guest houses in the Lake District over the past 10 years and this is definitely our favourite for many reasons. Firstly, we have two children (now 9 and 4) and during our...
