This hotel is situated in an amazing location on the lake and is a beautiful building. The room we had (no 12) was slightly dated but comfortable and very big! The bath water was very yellow but having checked this with the owner I was assured it was because of the amount of Peat in the water so it was... More

We had booked a one night break at this hotel and pre-paid for the room as a treat for my husband who had been ill. However as the weather deteriorated I telephoned and spoke to the owner who was completely unconcerned about her guests' welfare. She told me the road was open and we would lose our money if we... We returned to Dale Head for a lovely, eagerly anticipated, weekend break after more years than we'd realised. The view and the building itself are still lovely but there the nostalgic memories must end. Our room (11) was in the extension and was a good size with fabulous view over the lawn to Thirlmere and beyond. The spacious bathroom was... More

A mixed review if I'm honest, this is family run & a really nice building & grounds. The food was good but tbh really not worth the cost. It's far too over priced, the decor is getting old, the rooms were very clean though. The biggest let down was the four poster bed, my God was the mattress lumpy, terrible... More

We booked last minute for a family room, it was excellent four poster bed and two singles in the room, seating area and large TV. Plenty of space for all of us, great bathroom. The best bit was the view its AMAZING of the lake. Breakfast was delicious and our host was more then accommodating and very friendly and helpful.... More

A stunning location, beautiful grounds and a beautiful building, built in 1570. We stayed in the family room for 1 night during the fist weekend in september 2015. The room was huge with 1 x double and 2 x single beds, desk, rocking chair and wardrobes etc and still plenty of other space for the kids to play. 42 inch... More

The only reason I've rated Dale Head poor rather than terrible is that the owner and his wife were friendly and genuinely wanted to fix the problems we experienced. We stayed in the Coach House self catering unit which was functional. However a couple of days in we noticed a pool of water kept appearing under the sink, on further... More

Just got back from a two night stay at Dale Head Hall and wish we could have stayed longer. A beautiful location with magnificant views over Thirlmere Lake. Dale Head is tucked well away from the road side offering peace and tranquility yet still central to what the lakes have to offer. The hosts could not do enough for us... More

Just got back from a two night stay in room 10, lovely spacious family room with outstanding views over the front lawns and lake Thirlmere. Our 4 year old son was made to feel extremely welcome by the owners' granddaughter and a beautiful friendship ensued! The breakfasts were lovely and kept us going well into the afternoon. The lake is... More
