We stayed for three nights in Howe Keld. Our room was very clean. The website panorama does not lie. We also got a large modern room (we had friends who found their room too small), with a fantastic tv. The place is situated very conveniently on the lake side of the town, close enough to walk to all amenities. The... more

Stayed at Howe Keld for two nights and we found the accommodation to be of a high standard. We stayed in two different rooms but both were comfortable (especially the beds) and very clean. All the usual facilities you would expect and nice toiletries etc. Our only grumble would be the breakfast, as has been commented before, you have to... more

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at this wonderful place where we stayed in 2 different rooms (our choice) as we couldn't make uo our mind which room to choose. Howe Keld is situated in a convenient location, being just a short walk from both Derwentwater and the town facilities. The rooms and decor are of a... more

This hotel has recently been totally renovated, and they did a great job. The beds are SUPERB! The breakfasts are terrific. We did not meet the owner/operators, who were away. The substitute hosts (Steve and Kath)were most helpful, warm folks with refined senses of humor. Due to my own inadequacies, we had difficulty locating the hotel, and Kath guided us... more

My partner and I stayed during August for 4 nights and we couldn't fault the accomodation at all. The breakfasts were wondrerful including a choice of home made breads fresh every day. The room was very clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. I liked the 'green' approach of the B & B very much and the use of local... more

Don't know where to start...the welcome was genuine and warm, the room was gorgeous (fantastic bed, decor and bathroom - brilliant bath after a climb up Skiddaw in the bank holiday rain!), the breakfasts were the best we have ever had...fresh strawberries, home made granola,... more

This B&B really completed what was a wonderful time at the Lake District. David was very prompt in his responses to all of our inquiries via e-mail. He, his wife and the entire staff were very friendly and helpful. The buffet and hot breakfast were excellent and we appreciated that there was a variety. After experiencing the heavy breakfasts in... more
