This is such a lovely building in a great location with real potential, but inside, a real hotchpotch of styles and terrible customer service. Our reception on arrival was curt: we arrived 25 minutes before the 3pm check-in time and were told abruptly that we had to wait. Our request to leave our luggage somewhere was met with a blank... decor of the inside of the hotel is lovely the rooms do not however live up to the downstairs of the hotel the rooms feel as though they are a throw back to the 1950 - the hotel is lovely the bedrooms and bathrooms are in need of a refurb having said that the rooms were clean, the beds comfortable... Rooms are somewhat shabby and, therefore, rather overpriced. The check in experience was appalling. There was a definite air of complacency and a rather dismissive attitude...a real pity. Staff came across as disinterested, unmotivated and in need of real training to help improve the customer experience. There was mould on bathroom tiles and shower head (housekeeping!) and some room furniture was... More

We stayed one night to visit the theatre by the lake. Reception was friendly and helpful and the rooms were small but comfortable. Overall (including dinner and breakfast) it was good value for money. More

When I went to take a shower, the water was cool - there was no hot water. I called housekeeping and it could not be fixed. They did not give us a new room but the next morning had us go into a room after someone had checked out to use their shower. It was gross but the only way... More

This review is disingenuous. You were dissapointed to find you had booked a double room, when in fact you wanted a twin - and as the Hotel was full you ended up sleeping with your daughter and therfore not happy to start with. There were hundreds of gallons of Hot water, you just wanted it hotter than the safety setting... More

This was our 3rd stay, we were originally reserved room 207 which was a double and single, then we were offered another room nearer the rear of the hotel with better views, as they had had a cancellation because of the snow! We therefore opted for room 214, a double. It was a lovely room, comfy bed, ample tea &... More

The room was nice, but a little dated. The lights had a dimmer switch, but when switched on the lights dimmed and flickered. Side lamps would not work at all. Was woken up at 6am on Sat morning by people setting up market stalls. An overpriced stay for what we got. Breakfast was average, but the room lacked atmosphere. Advertised... More

Great location in the Market Sqe.Tidy but but tired deco.Room large but dated, bathroom too small, not even a shelf for toiletries. Staff very friendly and helpful.A tip for the dark haired waiter though-dont sneak and smoke at breakfast and then come back in and serve food,it sticks! Got the feeling it had been taken over and the staff were just finding... More

We held our wedding reception here, and all I can say is,the staff made our special day extra special! From the sit down meal to the night reception everything was dealt with in the most polite and professional manner. Our room was newly decorated and very comfortable, with a cooked breakfast in the morning being most welcome. More
