Once again we selected this hotel based on previous visits and although we enjoyed ourselves the attention to detail seemed lacking on this visit. Our standard room was on the small side but it had everything we needed unfortunately the windows open onto all the cooling fans for the bar which were noisy it was also stifling hot. ( reception... From the back entrance the hotel does not look very appealing however from the front it is very nice to look at, Location is great right in the heart of the town and a ten minute stroll to the lake. There is free parking at the rear which you have to leave £150 deposit for. We found our classic room no28... More

A comfortable hotel well located right on the Keswick high street, with convenient parking behind (no extra charge). Service was always friendly. The room was comfortable and of fairly average 3 star ish quality (we had a "classic" room rather than standard). We had found a rate via a third party site that included dinner and was fairly reasonable. The... More

My partner and I had the misfortune to decide to eat in this hotel, the a la carte menu was poor and, we thought expensive but assumed the food would be of good quality, but not so, it was standard hunters chicken (the smallest piece of chicken we had ever seen) and gammon which came to £32 - very expensive... Right in the centre of Keswick the hotel is ideally placed. Free car park (although you need to leave a £150 Deposit) at the back of the hotel, access for all is easy. The whole hotel is clean & well maintained with excellent breakfasts and evening meals, if you go full board. The staff are very friendly and helpful, we... More

Just returned after staying at the Skiddaw for 3 nights. What a lovely break. Excellent location, free parking, lovely room, 51 and the food was excellent. We went half board and the menu changed each night. Breakfast was as little or as much as you wanted and the cooked breakfast lovely. Nothing better in the afternoon than sitting with a... More

I was in room 36, top floor facing town square in unsusally hot and world cup season. The room was stiflingly hot and small window facing the square was very noisy. No air conditioning and towel rack in the bathroom that never turned off adding to more heat. I asked for electric fan which helped. Although the location is very... More

Dear Galavantingsusan Thank you for staying at The Skiddaw Hotel and then reviewing your stay. I trust that you enjoyed your visit to the Lake District as was the rest of your stay at the hotel apart from the heat in your room. We were both fortunate and unfortunate to experience such lovely hot weather recently. The fortunate part is... More

This hotel is ideally situated at the heart of Keswick with shops galore, pubs and quaint tea rooms. Although the hotel is a little dated in decor, it wins hands down for service, cleanliness and making your stay comfortable. I especially loved to huge bed in the classic room. I left my phone charger behind and they quickly returned it.... More
