This is a very large, old hotel. Being an old hotel, it is run down in places. The rooms are large, but my mattress was very old as was the plumbing. This hotel in gorgeous grounds is perfectly situated for walking and cycling in the Keswick area, indeed you can do both without using your car. With a group of 10 colleagues we stayed at the Hotel for one night. We had conference facilities within the Hotel and used the Keswick adventure team mountain biking equipment for an activity on the first afternoon. stayed here as part of a coach tour from Ireland for a week while touring the lake district, found the hotel to be very cold and lacking in atmosphere, it certainly wasnt spotlessly clean as the revolving front door was filthy with hand marks no matter what time of day I went through them and also the bedroom wasnt vacuumed... more
