We booked this hotel through the Times hotel deal, so secured 25% off the normal bed and breakfast rates. We decided to go for a Fell View room, as lake views just that too expensive. So, we were paying £140 for bed and breakfast...and expected a lot for this having stayed in other comparable hotels at this price (Linthwaite House,... more

Many thanks for taking the time to review our hotel. I'm sorry you felt the room rate didn't represent good value for money, as a Times reader, you were given a 25% discount from our normal bed and breakfast tariff. I do however accept that there was a minor maintenance issue with your room which has now been rectified. Your...

Booked 3 night family break (Helvellyn - DBB, means breakfast and dinner included), 2 adults and 2 children (13 and 11) on the hotel's website. Confirmed back by email, £738.00. We enjoyed our stay, nice, comfortable room, helpful staff, nice restaurant. But that is what you expect for this amount of money. The size of the swimming pool is ridiculous,... more

Thank for taking the time to review our hotel. I do not have a record of receiving a written complaint from you regarding the charging of children's meals, but am delighted to have the opportunity of responding via this web site. Our terms are that children share adult rooms on a bed and breakfast basis, this way the parents are...

Read a few reviews which weren't too complimentary- so a bit worried about our stay- however it was fantastic- the staff were charming- and fun- and meals great. The hotel is very clean- and views superb- but make sure you ask for a lakeview room- the rooms at the back had no view. more

We initially saw this hotel on the web when we were looking for wedding venues and after speaking to them on the telephone, we went to stay and check out the amenities. The hotel is in a fantastic location. it is 3 miles from keswick and takes 45 -1 hour to walk to keswick at a leisurely pace along the... more

This hotel is away from the main tourist hot spots, which is ideal because it's nice and quiet. But this is only OK if you have a car as it's quite away from the main tourist areas and although there is bus service between the hotel and the main areas, the travel flexibility isn't there. The hotel is right next... more

We stayed here for 7 nights on a Catbells break with our two fifteen year old sons in August, and what a great time we had. The setting is really lovely, with views of the Lake to the front of the hotel, waterfalls behind it and walks very close by. It's classed as a 3 star hotel, but easily deserves... more

We stayed from the 26th of August, for what turned out to be three glorious nights. The rooms are beautifully appointed, staff and service five star standard, the food was plentiful, varied and well thought out . I highly commend the Head Chef and his brigades of chefs, outstanding. The Senior management were always attentive to the finest of detail.... more

The hotel's picture looks like it is on lakeside but it is actually not as it is separated by a road and some land. We stayed in lake view room and the view was very normal not that stunning. Hotel is quite far from town so not many things to do or walk around. Breakfast buffet and hot foods were... more

Stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of August and loved this place. Stayed in a standard room, with no view, but it was very comfortable. Hot tub was a treat! Ate one night at the hotel restaurant which was fabulous...the drinks are quite expensive though. Will go back to this hotel in the future and probably also to one... more
