The previous reviewer seems a little harsh in that any hotel has terms and conditions so it is not the hotels fault that you choose not to go. It is a very quiet time of year for hotels so not surprising that they were disappointed to lose business. I only stayed there one night this week but my colleagues stayed... more

My friend and I had booked to stay for 2 nights in November, we had been before and enjoyed it. Because of the appalling weather conditions and the floods in and around the lake district we decided to cancel. We had paid a deposit of £50, however when speaking to the owner/manager she at first insisted that we were liable... more

This was our second time at the Highfield and it was a birthday celebration for my wife. There was a warm welcome from all the members of the Highfield team, especially the hosts "Howard and Caroline" The service was very attentive and nothing was to much trouble. The dinner was fantastic, with the use of some great local produce producing... more

Stayed for two nights at the hotel - had difficulty getting booking as they were busy but managed to get some of the rooms we wanted. There are some very pleasant rooms looking onto the water, but others don't have much of a view. So if you end up with the less well appointed rooms, you may be slightly disappointed... more

Maybe a little over-priced for what it is, but the building is well-placed to commanad views of Derwentwater, the staff are unfailingly helpful and considerate, the food very good and the bed comfortable. The bathroom was just on the right side of adequacy, and are general feeling was of satisfaction and contentment. more

We have just returned from our second stay at the HIghfield in Keswick. Once again everything about the hotel was excellent. The rooms was very clean, the staff very friendly and the food was brilliant. Not a hotel for your chips and beer man. This hotel has managed to maintain it's high standards even during the current recession. We were... more
