before booking at burleigh mead we did read reviews, several people mentioned lady owner having an unfortunate & unfriendly manner. we did not have a problem until we wanted to book a room-8 months! in advance. with a south view, to be met with '' i can't guarantee that, i will try to fit you in'' it had not been... Burleigh Mead is in The Heads neighborhood of Keswick. It is steps from everything. Short walk to town, and to bus station (it's really a bus stop) and a very good market. Rooms at Burleigh Mead were fantastic with views of the lake (Derwentwater) and the little golf course. It's a 5 minute walk to the lake where you can... More

This was our second time in Keswick and I knew that I wanted to stay on the "Heads" where several upscale Victorian era B&Bs are located. Burley Mead couldn't have been a better choice. We stayed at the top of the house with a view of the lake. Our window also overlooked Hope Park and the small golf course (which... More

lovely Victorian house with amazing views. modern and clean rooms lovely breakfast. we stayed 4 nights, the breakfast room had lovely views over the park but the tables with the view was monopolised by the same 2 couples, we were only allowed on the "top" table on our last morning and I suspect just because we were the only guests.... This lovely building is in a great location and as long as everything is chugging along ok - it's great. It's clean and warm and everything works. We wouldn't go back though. As has been commented on many times the lady (owner?) can at times be pleasant and helpful and at times huffy and abrupt. We actually felt uncomfortable interacting... More

Traditional quaint Bed & Breakfast. Breakfasts were great, but only served from 8:15 to 9:15 - fine for us but maybe not for people who like to get up late. Our e-suite room was very comfortable. Owner friendly and helpful with suggestions of where to go, and even assisted me in when I made a cockup of ironing my wife's... More

Well managed but impersonal. Rooms are clean and well kept but don't expect more than one small soap (between two) or for it, or shampoos etc.to be renewed during your stay! Also be careful which room you chose as stairs might be a problem. Parking also can be problematic as only two spaces for guests and free on street parking... More

We had the wonderful fortune to stay in the Burleigh Suite, what a wow factor that room is, the views from the large bay window are breath taking. We sat just taking in the view, watching people and generally chilling out. The breakfasts were varied and compliments to the chef. Our host Gill was pleasant and attentive, we would highly... More
