We stayed 5 nights in the best upstairs lake-view room and it was magnificent. Nice large, clean room with good view across Lake Bassenthwaite to Skiddaw (spoilt only by the usual Lake District rain!). Breakfast and service from the proprietor was excellent. Highly recommended for a Lake District stay, especially if you want to be away from the summer tourist... more

After reading the positive comments about Lakeside Country House I decided to make a reservation for a short 2 night break. Travelling as a single lady I was looking forward to the "warm welcome " and tray of tea and coffee which had been mentioned in many reviews. I arrived at 11.30am and I was disappointed as there was no... more

I've stayed at the Lakeside twice now, and can't wait to go back! Sharon and Arnie are excellent hosts - very welcoming and friendly, always on hand if you need them and can't do enough for you. I was welcomed in with tea and biscuits - a nice touch - and stayed in the single/small double room which has a... more

The decision to stay here with my elderly & discerning mother was almost entirely based on Trip Advisor user reviews, I was not disappointed. First class service and attention from our hosts, from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Lovely rooms, quiet & well equipped. The bedrooms at the front of the Guest House (and indeed the... more

Welcoming and attentive owners, nice touch with the tea and biscuits on arrival. Informative on local places to eat. High quality breakfast, again a very high standard of care and attention. Rooms spacy and comfortable, clean and tastefully furnished. Location a big plus next to main highway, but tucked away enough to be peaceful and relaxed. more

Once again Arnold and Sharon took excellent care of us from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. The rooms, as always, were immaculate and the food delicious. We spent a lot of time driving around the area looking for properties and the owners were only too happy to provide their own help and guidance to assist us... more

Having never been to the Lake District before, our stay was made all the more enjoyable by staying at this wonderful Guest House. On arrival we were warmly welcomed and shown to our room. It turned out to be perfect for our stay. It had everything we required, plenty of storage room, tea/coffee making facilities, television and a very comfortable... more

If you are looking for an excellent self catering lodge, for 2/4 people, situated in the Lake District then look no further. We have just completed our second visit to the lodge and we will be returning! After a day's walking in the hills the lodge offers clean, cosy surroundings with plenty of hot water to wash away the aches... more
