Lovely quiet rooms in the yard at the back of the pub. Very comfy bed. Pub great with a good range of hand-pulled beers and nice welcoming staff. Car park entrance is VERY tight, thankfully my door mirrors fold back at the touch of a button. Only downside of the stay was that the kitchen was being refurbished so there... More

I visited the Sheakespeare Inn a few years back, and found the acommodations to be spacious and clean. The hosts were kind and forthcomming. Breakfast was standard english of the best homecooked kind.

We were camping in Morecambe so decided to visit Kendal for the day, looked around for ages to find somewhere suitable for us ( and our dog) for lunch. We were resigened to sitting outside until I asked if we could sit in the bar area, the guy behind the bar was very accommodating and dealt with us and the... More

Our room was out the back of this pub in central Kendal - a bit like a motel room. Room was fairly clean and basic. Pub table and chairs immediately outside bedroom window must make for a very noisy night at weekends. On checking in we were told that we could opt out of breakfast and have our bill reduced... Great location, decent price, terrible attitude from the landlord, very rude to my guest, paid for breakfasts upfront but was informed by the cleaner he would not come down from "upstairs" 20 mins before end of service! Never again, avoid at all costs

The room was clean and very comfortable. Geoff and Sue gave us a very warm welcome. Breakfast was excellent. We will definitely stay again when we are in the area. The pub was welcoming and the locals were very friendly.

this is a great place to stay in the heart of kendal, we attended a show at the brewery/arts center which was a 2min walk away, rooms very clean and tidy, nice bar for a couple of drinks before bed with reasonable prices, breakfast was spot on, the car park is not for the faint hearted as you access it... We've not been to Kendal for a few years, and went to a family friend's birthday party for the weekend, returning home on July 1st. The Shakespeare is in the centre of town, with car parking for those wanting accommodation. The entrance is a bit on the snug side, so caution is needed. The present owners haven't been there long,... More
