Located right in the heart of the town centre parking is an issue before 6pm. The entrance into the car park is only of small cars guess it was built a long time ago. The atomshere in the bar was freindly and was shown to the room. Asked for the wifi password which I was given however the signal did... More

We noticed that the new landlords had started doing food so we went for Sunday lunch today. We both had the roast dinner and it was delicious, piping hot, plenty of it , and everything tasted fresh rather than frozen. The young girls waiting on were also very friendly, as was the barman. As locals we can't wait to go... More

We were looking for a nice place to have lunch which was dog friendly on New Years eve and came across the Shakespeare. The food was very good and tasty. The homemade chips were lovely and the cost of the food was very reasonable. We had been to more expensive places and had frozen chips which annoys me. The gentlemen... More

Stayed in one of the Shakespeare's rooms located off the Yard at the rear of the Victorian pub located in the centre of the town while spending Christmas with my family in Kendal. Free car parking in the Yard albeit a tight approach through the arch from the High Street. Far enough up the hill to be well above the... More

This place is great - I was told by the bar manager that the pub had been taken over in September so disregard the previous reviews! The food here is great, the staff very friendly and the beer good! Local ales are a bonus! The rooms are clean and the beds very comfy - what more do you need?! A... More

We called in here to watch the match and have something to eat having been tempted in by the special offers on the A board outside. Found a seat, sent hubby to the bar and ordered drinks then asked about food that had unfortunately stopped being served (hint, take the board in, then!). The wine was very good quality and... More

Lovely quiet rooms in the yard at the back of the pub. Very comfy bed. Pub great with a good range of hand-pulled beers and nice welcoming staff. Car park entrance is VERY tight, thankfully my door mirrors fold back at the touch of a button. Only downside of the stay was that the kitchen was being refurbished so there... More

The hotel and bar was great however the owner was very unwelcoming And dude , wouldn't recommend in that basis felt rather robbed if I must say , as I expect to pay for not just the facility but the service too . My ensure room was great And I slept very well on the comfy bed .
