Just spent two days of a weekend in this vert friendly hotel. Rooms great, staff great, bar food great, location great, beer great. What a difference to some of the other hotels I have stayed in recently. Would recommend a visit if thinking of going to the area. Exellent value for money - Thank you Simon and Team. more

The hotel is a truly oldy worldy hotel run by a small team who work accross all areas of the hotel. The hotel is clean and basic, though a lot better then any Premier Inn or Travelodge and a lot cheaper depending on when you book. It is an ideal hotel for those wanting cheap overnight accomodation with good food... more

Despite attentive staff, the worst hotel I have had the displeasure of staying in for many years. The town was booked out so I was unable to move elsewhere and had to remain for the four nights I was there on business. The rooms were damp and smelly. Furniture was old and cramming in. The TV did not work. My... more

This quaint Coaching Inn is fine for an overnight stop to Scotland, which is what we were doing. In a nutshell, the staff were superb, very friendly and welcoming and couldn't have done more for you. Absolutely brilliant and outstanding, especially Carl the Manager who gave our children sweets when we arrived and free postcards to us when we left.... more

We stayed in a family room at this Hotel, very pleasent/helpful staff and generally a nice hotel. My only complaint was the rather saggy chairs in the Bar/lounge and Restaurant they where very uncomfortable and you could feel the springs sticking through. Also the beds could do with replacing as they too where rather saggy. more

This was a poor experience overall - we should have known having been allocated room 101. The TV did not work in the room, and we were advised by the duty manager on the day of check out that it was just one of those things - there was no apology. Plus, the room smelt stale and a little cheesy... more

we were made very welcome from the onset, our cases were taken to our rooms, and the hotel manager took the time to greet us all on arrival with information about the hotel and surrounding areas. we found the hotel very clean and our room was comfortable. the food was satisfactory, but above all the staff were so friendly and... more

After reding previuos reviews (especially last years) was very hesitant, but I booked anyway. I arrived at the hotel and must admit it looked very grubby, but you would expect this witht he age of the hotel and traffic. I went to reception and was greeted by the manager Simon and very helpful indeed told us where to park (luckily... more

As we approached this hotel we thought that we had made a big mistake because the kerb appeal is zero but it is a lot better on the inside. First the room, it was clean with all the usual ammenities. The downsides were the busy road just outside the window but there is double glazing and the bed. This was... more

We stayed at the County Hotel, Kendal with a group of friends. We were given a warm welcome and the staff were very pleasant, professional and hard-working. The entertainment was very good on the Saturday night. Our room was large with a double and single bed and was clean. The linen was clean and in good condition. Tea making facilities... more
