We had a mediocre meal earlier this month. Yesterday we went for lunch and found the pub shut - returned today and learnt from neighbour that it closed down on Wednesday- so beware - 2 friends have booked ( and paid for) 2 nights at Easter. Very sad

arrived early and the whole place was locked up so myself and my wife went for a walk, then came back, not greeted well. our room was dirty, didnt look like it had been cleaned. food was cold. wish we had stayed elsewhere
My hubby and I stayed at the Wheatsheaf on the 28 and 29 July for a little birthday getaway. We were quite amused at the quirkyness of the experience, especially on the first evening when we arrived. The young man behind the bar was doing everything - barman, waiting on in the restaurant, showing us to our room and I...

Great location. Unbelievable high quality of food. Great service. Have read a few reviews that say the service is slow and unwelcoming, sometimes they are a little slow, but they don't employ many staff as it is in a very small village, so a little patience goes a long way. As for unwelcoming, I think this is complete rubbish, the...

We found The Wheatsheaf via The Michelin Guide. We can honestly say we were not disappointed. The homely welcome made us feel relaxed from the moment we arrive and staff could not do more for us. a young couple seemed to run the pub/restaurant and both were very helpful and friendly. We stayed for 3 nights and the food was...

we stayed for 2 nights and the food at both breakfast and dinner was superb. This is a kitchen that cares about what it produces with fresh local produce lightly cooked and they even make their own black pudding. Only downsize was the small size of the bedroom but it was still good value on the website deal.
Customer care here is first class - nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are clean, tidy and a good size. The bar had a couple of good, local Real Ales amongst all the usual drinks on offer - and a good choice of wines. The restaurant offered a wide choice - all of which turned out to be delicious...
