A friend and I stopped here enroute to the Lakes on a weekend motorcycle tour, had a gorgeous lunch. Mine was a Spaghetti Carbonara with a few prawns added at my request. My riding buddy had the vegetarian omelette and chips. Washed down with a pint of lager shandy each. Great place, nice friendly staff, good food. What more do... More

After disappointments from previous owners and mixed reviews for new owners - I was a little apprehensive for our evening out. However my concerns were soon put to bed. The decor and carpets were fresh and clean . Nice to have matching chairs rather than the latest craze of all the pubs having odd chairs. My meal was excellent and... More

We had a fairly nice stay over the Mayday bank holiday weekend. We came to the area to attend a friends 50th Wedding Anniversary lunch in Windermere, so chose this place because it is near to where our friends live. The Gilpin Bridge has been renovated and is under new ownership from last October .More a B&B than a hotel. The interior... One week after staying at a fantastic 4* hotel by Lake Windermere, we unexpectedly found ourselves back in the Lake District at this inn. It's also rated as a 4* hotel, but I wouldn't put it in that category as it more of a pub/guesthouse. However, I think some of the reviews for it are a bit harsh, more nitpicking... More

Had a 3 night stay. Lovely room 'Ennerdale' - very warm and comfy. Staff very friendly and helpful. Meals lovely and reasonably priced. Setting is great for exploring the southern Lakes and there are great walks from the door. Whitbarrow Scar & Scout Scar very close by. Would definitely return.

Myself and my family visited the Gilpin bridge for some lunch. When we arrived, the tall dark haired man on duty did not even greet us. We sat down to what looked like a wonderful menu, we ordered our food and drinks. When the meal arrived we could not believe what they had served us! The bread was stale and... More

The hotel looks impressive from the outside with beautiful flowers & baskets. The inside is also lovely. Nicely furnished dining areas etc. We were checked in by a gentleman who was very polite but harassed. Working on the bar, taking orders for food & serving food. Our room was Ennerdale. As described before the bathroom suite was dark pink &... More
