Food and staff were excellent, need a car as it's in the middle of nowhere. Major issues with cleaning stayed for three nights and towels never changed and bathroom not cleaned once. Very thin walls so was noisy at night and no heating as it was cold at night.

The food is fairly cheap but cheerful, the kids mash wasn't the best and the garlic mushrooms very greasy . Nice enough burger though. The lady serving us Debbie was fantastic and was great with our 2 children. There is a outdoor kids play area but unfortunately it was raining. It is Cumbria after all

This is ideally situated to discover south lakes and Kendal. Rooms are well equipped and clean. Plenty of choice at breakfast, which was delicious and plentiful. The bar/restaurant is very relaxed. Had a lovely evening playing pool and darts. Would recommend a stay here, and would come back

Decided to head up to the lakes last minute. This weekend was very busy however and the only availability was for hotels charging in excess of £200 per night. As this was just for a break away this was beyond out budget. Having read the reviews on trip advisor I must say that we were dismayed at our choice but... More

I had reserved all 6 rooms at the Gilpin Bridge for us gents the night before my wedding (in Bowness) 5 months in advance. I had also booked a range of cars to pick us up from the hotel in the morning to take us to Bowness. With 2 months to go I called back in to the Gilpin to... More

We travelled from Australia for a family reunion. Couldn't get in our room as the internet was not working and they didn't know which rooms we were in. No complimentary drink while we waited, we had to pay for them. Customer service very poor. It felt like they were doing us a favour by letting us stay there! Food at... More

This is one the worst experiences I have had The rooms are tiny and there is nowhere to hang your clothes apart from a small rail above the kettle! My partner and I booked in at 3.30 the lady took payment and showed us to our room. We ate there which was pretty mediocre. At 10.30 pm there was a... More

I ate in here for the first time the other day and thought the food was lovely. The lady working was very friendly but seemed a bit rushed off her feet and perhaps could have done with an extra pair of hands although she handled it well. Prices were very good and one of the better prices pubs in this... More

We first visited this pub just after it had been refurbished and although the service was very slow the food was ok and we put it down to early days. However a second visit with family , the service was awful, very slow, 2 of the 4 meals were inedible. No charge was made for these meals, however the only... More

Found this place purely by chance on our way to Windermere. Stopped of for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The weather was awful, raining hard and on entering the pub found it to have a cozy welcoming atmosphere. We ordered coffees to begin and these were served with what appeared to be small home made shortbread biscuits. After ordering our lunch,... More
