Ideal, comfortable stop off to explore the South Lake and beyond. Handy for the motorway and very close to Sizergh Castle. Friendly staff, cosy bar and light and airy dining area. There was a good selection of beers including two local real ales (though unfortunately they ran out on our first night's stay!) The menu was uncomplicated but the food... More

Booked this room last minute. The service when booking was great, allowed us to check in early - fab. When we went in the room we were hit by the smell straight away. It smelled like public toilets. The room was pretty small and dreary but despite smelling so bad was clean. I would not stay her again, it was... More

Our nice weekend away soon turned into a nightmare. I'll start with what we saw on the internet and the hotel we had in mind. Gilpin Bridge Inn is advertised as a 4star on Lastminute, the rating is apparently based on the customer rating which we didn't know about. And the hotel website itself is classes as 3star. And from... More

We drove past this pub while traveling to Ambleside and called in for lunch. We had a sandwich I had beef gravy ciabatta and my partner has club sandwich both came with side salad. We sat in the sun as we ate, there are a few benches. The service was good and the food was tasty

I took my mum to the Gilpin Bridge Inn for a mother daughter weekend for her birthday. We both had the best time ever. We loved the fact that this is a typical tranditional country pub, and has the laid back friendly atmosphere to go with it.. This place is family run and is the most friendly welcoming place we... Visited the Gilpin Bridge Inn for a family reunion meal last Sunday. A great meal, with plenty of fresh vegetables to go around. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Visited the following day to go on a 'Wainwright' walk, the owners very generously allowed walkers to use their carpark.

We had a meal here on a summer evening and were disappointed. The advertising leaflet leads you to expect something special but the place is tired, the food took about 45 minutes to arrive, the dessert about 20 minutes, the staff seemed over stretched despite the fact that the place was not full. The food was ok, the staff did... More

Have just returned from a wonderful break in the Lakes staying at this hotel. The room we had was a large clean double room with nice en suite bathroom (room 10) and all usual facilities. Breakfast was a full breakfast though they were quite happy to swap this round and compared favourably with similar hotels. The inn itself is pleasant... More

Bought a deal online and thought would be ideal base for lakes. We were put in room 2 or should I say cupboard 2. Opened the window and there was loads of bird poo on the ledge. Bathroom was damp and dingy - shower curtain falling off. I couldn't stand it so we left immediately. Hope they use the £89... More
