New management has decided this pub will not be dog friendly anymore. I understand dogs are not everyone's cup of tea, especially where food is served, but this is the lakes.... Everywhere is dog friendly. Previously dogs where only allowed in one part of the bar, everyone's happy that way, but for some reason this is no longer the case.... More

We thought we would try the Gilpin as our normal local was closed for renovation and we had been told the gilpin had been renovated recently too. We booked in advance for my grandads 86th birthday on remebrance sunday. The service was poor although very trying, we had to order drinks in advance as the wait was long, we had... More

We booked the hotel online as it was very convenient from London for an afternoon drive and a gateway to the Lake district. The hotel was very english old fashion B&B, I remember those from the 60s. But the room was good and clean, the sheets not of very good quality though. The staff was lovely. Unfortunately the wifi only... More

Ideal, comfortable stop off to explore the South Lake and beyond. Handy for the motorway and very close to Sizergh Castle. Friendly staff, cosy bar and light and airy dining area. There was a good selection of beers including two local real ales (though unfortunately they ran out on our first night's stay!) The menu was uncomplicated but the food... More

Booked this room last minute. The service when booking was great, allowed us to check in early - fab. When we went in the room we were hit by the smell straight away. It smelled like public toilets. The room was pretty small and dreary but despite smelling so bad was clean. I would not stay her again, it was... More

Our nice weekend away soon turned into a nightmare. I'll start with what we saw on the internet and the hotel we had in mind. Gilpin Bridge Inn is advertised as a 4star on Lastminute, the rating is apparently based on the customer rating which we didn't know about. And the hotel website itself is classes as 3star. And from... More

We drove past this pub while traveling to Ambleside and called in for lunch. We had a sandwich I had beef gravy ciabatta and my partner has club sandwich both came with side salad. We sat in the sun as we ate, there are a few benches. The service was good and the food was tasty

I took my mum to the Gilpin Bridge Inn for a mother daughter weekend for her birthday. We both had the best time ever. We loved the fact that this is a typical tranditional country pub, and has the laid back friendly atmosphere to go with it.. This place is family run and is the most friendly welcoming place we...
