We have stayed at Yewfield on several occasions, and have always thoroughly enjoyed our breaks there. The setting is spectacular, in over 30 acres of beautiful Lake District scenery. The rooms have been refurbished within the last 18 months and you get cool, crisp cotton sheets, beautiful designer bedding (Zoffany fabric?), lots of squashy cushions and a very well-appointed bathroom.... more

We recently spent a long weekend at the Yewfield and we both thought iit was fantastic. The views are breathtaking and the room we stayed in was fantastic. Yewfield is located in a good location for accessing both Hawkshead and Coniston - although you do need to bring a torch if you want to walk back from the pubs of... more

My husband selected this B&B on the basis of the web site. I'm afraid it makes the accommodation look and sound a lot more fresh and appealing than it actually is. The reality of the place - for us - was that it was a mismash of tired styles, had a rather fusty smell, way too many wooden buddas and... more

Stayed here way back in May. Superb place in a fantastic setting with lovely views from our room. All the 'C's, courtesy, cleanliness and cuisine. The staff couldn't be more helpful, our room was beautifully furnished and spotlessly clean, as vegetarians we both appreciated the organic veggie breakfast although as a specialist vegetarian establishment we had expected a little more... more

A little hard to find, but worth the effort! Our room was very spacious, with a kitchenette, sitting room, large bedroom, and bath. We loved the views of the gardens and orchard from our balcony. We felt as if we had the whole place to ourselves...very peaceful and quiet. Chef Mark prepared delicious foods, even for non-vegetarians. more

Very peaceful and good value. Lovely rooms with great decor and very well equipped though bed could have been more comfortable. Even if you aren't vegetarian I think you would like it here. A packed lunch option would have been good for walking guests more

Good price for a great place to stay. We were upgraded to the suite room at no extra cost as it was my birthday and it wasn't busy. Very peaceful with fantastic views over the hills. Everything very clean and staff very friendly. We had our dinner in The Drunken Duck down the road (we thought too far to walk... more

Yewfield is the type of place that made us want to stay longer. The setting is lovely with great views from our small balcony, a very nicely decorated room that was both private and comfortable. The bathroom is modern and also of a high standard. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff are very helpful. Even though our booking... more

If you like peace and beautiful surroundings this is the place to stay. Yewfield is a beautiful big old house set in its own grounds. Rooms are in traditional or modern style, we had a modern room which was stylish, warm and comfortable. Unfortunately the mattress was really soft and saggy. The meet and greet is a strange set up... more

Yewfield is quite a bit away from the main activity of Ambleside and Hawkshead, but that is why it is such a wonderful place to stay. Plus it is much better value for money than the central hotels if you don't need to be central. The rooms are immaculate, with organic and natural products wherever possible. Views are stunning. Breakfasts... more
