Hi Derek I think if you think of BREAK you will remember us, Perry and Jill Sherbet and Fudge. We stayed in Mulberry at the end of March and had a lovely time, even though I fell and broke my hand whilst out for a run around Tarn How's. (Still waiting for it to heal), but we still had an amazing... More

I have stayed at Yewfield twice now and can only highly recommend it (although I'd also like to think of it as a best kept secret!). As a vegetarian, the hotel, the views, the rooms, the area are all simply delightful. It's a lake loving vegetarian's dream. Can't wait to come back. We stayed in Vale View room both times.... More

This was really a last minute booking, that was literally booked in the car on the A66. We had been to the Hawkshead area of the lakes a few years ago and decided on route that this would be a great place to spend a spontaneous night away. So on quick deliberation and poor 3G connection a decision was made... More

Yewfield is well known as a vegetarian B&B but really it is a small country house hotel. Describing it as a B&B does not do it justice, and it simply happens to be vegetarian. It does not have the facilities of a hotel - there is no bar or restaurant - but it is a sumptuously decorated large house set... More

My husband and I have recently made the jump from vegetarian to vegan and usually have to 'make do' when we eat out - chips and side salads usually! Breakfasts when staying away are also slightly problematic. Not so here! This fully vegetarian B&B also caters wonderfully for vegans (also gluten-free, lactose-free etc). Best vegan cooked breakfast ever! The hotel... More

Yewfield is a cross between a gothic luxury hotel and a spiritual retreat; if that sounds attractive you'll have a lovely and unforgettable time here. We had the top floor suite with terrific views to the fells in several directions and a sofa. We wandered in the gardens which are extensive and well cared for. The breakfasts are just terrific... We have stayed at Yewfield quite a few times and we are back there over the Christmas period in one of the apartments. Yewfield is relaxing and ideally placed to visit the Lakes in all their glory. Don't be put off it being vegetarian based, give it a whirl, and even try Zeffirellis or Fellinis, which are in Ambleside.

Return visit after several year absence. If you want a wonderful, tranquil, relaxing holiday, with tasty breakfast, attentive service and comfortable rooms then Yewfield is for you! A good base for exploring or for an unwind. There is a great selection of books, magazines and CD's available. Strongly recommend Yewfield ( and dinner at Fellini or Zeffs ).

So much more than a B&B. This is private hotel standard accommodation, but marketed, I suspect, as a B&B as they don't do evening meals. Our standard room number 8, at the back of the house, was very nice, lovely bathroom (and bath), comfortable bed. Quiet. The house is nicely decorated throughout. The large lounge had a wood burner going... More

We stayed at the Yewfield in November 2012 and it was everything we could have hoped for. The location and views are breathtaking and only a short distance to Ambleside. The house is huge, comfortable and clean, whether you find yourself in one of the amazing bedrooms, or relaxing by the grand piano overlooking the gardens, you will love every... More
