We spent three nights at Walker Ground Manor just before Christmas. As frequent visitors to the Lakes, we have stayed in a variety of accommodation in the area, but this was far and away the best. The hosts could not have been more welcoming and friendly (even digging our car out of a snowdrift!) and the house itself is beautiful.... more

We stayed 5 nights on our first visit to Walker Ground Manor, which stands at the end of a lane above Hawkshead village. Dougie and Andrea are the perfect hosts, friendly and helpful and can recommend places to eat/visit etc. Easy walking to the village for food. Breakfasts were taken at individual tables in the conservatory and were varied and... more

Have been visiting Andrea & Dougie's fabulous B&B since they first took it over in 2001 and 8 years later we're still going back for more! If thoughts of a B& B conjure up images of candlewick bedspreads and avocado bathroom suites then you have never paid to visit to Walker Ground Manor! Although it is tucked out of the... more

My friend and I had an excellent stay here. Great advice about the local walks and what to do from Doug. Friendly and homely where ever you were in the house. We had the back bedroom as twin beds and it was still huge. Beautifully clean and great bedding. Homemade cakes and lovely wine glasses in the rooms. What a... more

A lovely old building which has been lovingly restored and furnished by Dougie and Andrea. It was easy to find using their detailed instructions, but hard to believe at the time that there could be a road beyond the little bungalow development!! Do not fear, up the narrow lane lies the house with ample parking. lovely garden (with a stream... more

This converted farmhouse has 3 guest bedrooms and all are good sized and spotlessly clean. It is located at the end of an obscure one track lane a couple of hundred yards above the village of Hawkshead. The hardest thing about the stay was finding the place. However, it's well worth the search. The setting is bucolic and neither the... more

Dougie and Andrea run an excellent B&B, an easy stroll from the centre of Hawkshead. It's a good centre for walking, and Windermere and Coniston are easily accessible. Our room was large, and the bathroom huge. Breakfasts are generous and served in the conservatory. We'll certainly be returning. more

Stayed in this B&B for three nights. Old house with very large room and big bathroom with bath and shower. Huge super kingsize bed. Horrible little TV, but otherwise good stay with nice hosts and good breakfasts. House set in beautiful garden, surrounded by fields and a short stroll to the lovely village of Hawkshead. Recommended. more
