We stayed at The Kings Arms for 3 nights over New Year with our 2 dogs. Our Room was comfortable and clean with all the home comforts we needed. All of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. On a very wet day they even washed our wet dirty dog towels and dried our soaking wet clothes - nothing was... More

We spent a couple of nights at this hotel in December, just having a few days off before Christmas madness. It was the week after the floods but the hotel informed us in advance about the situation and they booked the car park for us before we arrived, which was handy. Rooms are lovely, nice and warm and cosy and... More

Good food, good service and warm atmosphere. Plenty of real ale beer choices and other drinks. Situated in the middle of Ambleside and close to a really excellent chocolate shop. Better than the Queens hotel.

Visited with my husband and our dog and were made very welcome. The pub was warm and looked very festive. The menu is varied with a couple of vegetarian options, I had the Lamb Henry which was lovely and my other half had vegi burger with chips, both meals were fresh and large. An enjoyable visit. Will definitely return on our... More

We have stayed a few times at this lovely place. Always friendly staff and a bonus because they do not charge extra in rooms for dogs. Even if we don't stay we always call in for a cheeky pint after our walk. I would definitely recommend a visit if your in Hawkshead.

Called in here just for a couple of drinks. Being a malt whisky lover, I was impressed with their range of 30 (more?). Great, cosy little bar with a roaring fire....much recommended in a lovely little village.

I called late last year, 2014, to book here as I needed a dog friendly place to say for a few days this year, 2015. On arrival I was greeted by a friendly guy who showed us to our room. The room was small but clean and had everything we needed. the pub itself is great with a good selection... More

I stayed at this wonderful place twice in the month of October. It was perfectly placed in the center of the historic town of Hawkshead. Mind you to be in the center of this town means it is only a 2 minute walk to get out of town. It was a pleasure to sit and watch the local residents come... More

Dropped in for a drink whilst in Hawkshead. I had been a couple of times before and was in the area. Barman/landlord was busy, yet not flustered. Very friendly and the beer was good. Comfortable pub with nice outside space facing the square.
