Tried a midweek break at the Sun Inn in the charming village of Hawkshead. Always busy on the beer sales but we thought that the food was a bit on the expensive side with only a basic menu. (Half of which was sold out by our second day.) The Queen s Head is a good option in the village. Rooms... more

I stayed at the Sun Inn with my father and we had a great stay, the local town Hawkshead is a lovely place, quite, tranquil and had all the shops you could need including a gift shop. The food is exellent, at breakfast the meals are nice and big with plenty of chice and the dinners are of a high... more

My husband booked this hotel for my birthday and I have to say that the customer service was appalling. The managers were rude and unhelpful, happier propping up the bar than making sure their customers were happy. The rooms were nicely decorated but the one we stayed in was very small. The television stopped working half way through the evening,... more

Stayed here for a weekend break. we were in one of the rooms at the very top, nicely decorated, good use of space. All facilities good, need to borrow the hairdryer from behind bar, but this was no hassle really. Good choice at breakfast. Ate here on first evening and then tried one of the other 3 pubs for our... more

The Sun Inn is set in the charming village of Hawkshead. On arrival the staff were helpful. The rooms have been recently refurbished and had pleasant/contemporary decor with good, modern facilities. The pub was busy in the evening and had a good atmosphere - typical lakeland Inn. The only slight negative was on settling the tariff the manager/owner wasnt very... more

We stayed in a family room (room 4). Plenty of space, and bunk beds for the toddler, which she enjoyed. The room was warm, quiet and the double divan very wide and very comfortable. The bathroom has a jacuzzi bath. Noisy but fun. As we were leaving we peeked in all the other rooms - a good range. All clean,... more
