We have just had a break at short notice in the above hotel. we could only get in the annex but found it freshly decorated and were extended a warm welcome articularly from the lady who owned the hoel ( A bubbly geordie). Food was superb and at £20 for 3 courses was good value compared to aother places near... more

I stayed in the Annex of the hotel in November 2005. The room was cold and damp and in dire need of refurbishment. To add insult to injury we returned to the room after getting soaked whilst out walking to find there was no hot water. After complaining we were immediately given a discount, however, this did not compensate for... more

We were very shocked to read your response on trip advisor, more shocked to see it took you 10 months to comment on your stay from when you say you stayed,, The Ivy house hotel Hawkshead was closed in November for refurbishment and all rooms have been given a 4 diamond rating, all our previous ratings have been good, we offer...

This is a beauitful hotel right in the centre of Hawkshead. The room was fabulous with a gorgeous old fashioned bed and a victorian bathroom, if a little on the small side. The restaurant was highly recommended by other guests and we also had a great meal that was good value. The owners are extremely helpful and always on hand... more

We have been staying in Hawkshead for a few years now and we always stay at the Ivy House hotel where we have had excellent and friendly service from the Treeby family. The last time we stayed we were very pleased with the high level of refurbishment that has taken place in the hotel, particularly the bathrooms and the bedrooms... more

We have just returned from a weekend in this hotel. We had a family room in the annex, which was dank, smelly and very cold; it was heated by a night storage heater. The bathroom was tiny, as previously described. The bath was a half size, a minute bath with no shower. We were not initially given towels for the... more

This has to be the worst Hotel I have ever been to and we have travelled all over the world. We booked half board, room with bath for a weekend. When we arrived wwe were given a room with shower which admittedly they cahnged when we complained but it all went down hill from there. The bathroom was so small... more

I wish we had cancelled after reading previous reviews - when did this hotel get it's RAC dining award? certainly not the time we were here - poor food and tasteless too - and we paid nearly £30 supplement for an inedible dinner. Website needs some attention as it oversells this Hotel and also presents, steer clear there and hundreds... more

It was with some trepidation that we arrived at the hotel after reading the last review, we had even contemplated cancelling our reservation based on the comments made. All I can say is I think they must have been staying at another Ivy House Hotel than the one we stayed at! We have stayed in the Lakes on many occassions... more

We emailed this hotel at random and they replied offering two rooms for one (weekend) night GBP53.00 per person, dinner, bed & breakfast. Every other hotel insisted on booking two nights minimum at weekends, so, after checking the other rave-reviews on Tripadvisor, went ahead and booked. Their website shows a sample menu and seems to suggest that this is the... more
