Many thanks to Sharon and Steve for making our fourth stay at School House Cottage so enjoyable. You are assured of a friendly and warm welcome backed up by wonderful clean accommodation and excellent breakfasts. Cakes made by Steve accompanied by a nice cup of tea when returning to the guest house after a day out exploring are a great... More

This was our first experience of a B&B so were a little apprehensive. So pleased we chose this place. The location is great, no passing traffic to wake you up early in the morning but also very close to the centre of Hawkshead so you can easily make your way into the village on foot. We were made to feel... More

Had a lovely weekend thanks to Steve & Sharon's hospitality. Our lovely room was a small double with a petite en suite shower room, enough to cover our needs as you don't go to this stunning location to spend time in your room. Steve's afternoon tea and cake in the garden room is a nice touch and breakfast was quality.... More

Stayed 2nights in April and found Steve & Sharon really friendly. Breakfast was very good and freshly cooked to order with home made bread. Home baked cakes were a nice touch. However, the room we had was probably the worst we have ever stayed in and certainly the smallest. There wasn't room to pass each other and the "en suite"... More

Steve and Sharon made us very welcome and cooked us a really nice evening meal. Breakfast was also excellent. We spent the evening chatting in the garden pavilion before retiring to our very comfortable and well equipped room. The cottage is in an ideal location in the village.

My friend and I stayed at the School house cottage recently for 1 night; Steve and Sharon were very welcoming. The Cottage is based in an ideal location only a stone’s throw from the main village. We were given the Garden view room. It was a nice size and tastefully decorated, with an ensuite shower and toilet. The beds were... More

Lovely place, lovely room, lovely breakfast with plenty of fruit, lovely people. And the biggest bed I've ever slept in. We'll definitely go back. They're opening a tea pavillion in the garden this summer.

What a lovely place to stay in Hawkshead, right in the centre and close to Windermere and other tourist areas. We were warmly welcomed by Sharon and Steve who were perfect hosts. Breakfast was amazing - STUFFED! - and the tea and cake was a perfect touch. Cosy, clean and no bothers at all, we couldn't have asked for a... More

Arrived last Friday to a warm welcome from Steve and Sharon. Tea and cakes provided on arrival - delicious. Rooms warm and comfortable and great breakfast cooked exactly the way you like it. We opted to have an evening meal on the second night and to be honest, it was a great experience, profesionally presented and cooked. Look no further... More

We tend to do "self catering" in The Lake District but this was a great find as we only found it last minute. We booked it about a week prior to our visit. The B&B is right in the centre of the lovely village. On arrival we had a lovely cup of tea and cake all made by Steve. Room... More
