We spent 2 nights here with our doggy, Nice clean and spacious room, we had our own front door just at the back of the hotel which was nice. A really nice relaxed atmosphere in the resturant part of the pub at meal times, food and beer was delicious. And great location to start a walk from.

My husband and I booked a double room for the weekend. We were shown to room 10 which is small but beautifully furnished, although we thought it was missing a few finishing touches like bottled water, glasses in the bathroom and a full length mirror. The bathroom was very modern with an excellent shower. Great Wifi in room and bar.... More

We stayed one night in a room at their cottage adjacent - room 102, overlooking the courtyard which was quiet after foodservice. The room was well furnished, firm but comfortable bed, tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom and the shower in particular was great! I had trouble extricating myself from the shower as it was so good! We booked... More

Room 10, nice room at the back of the hotel, described by the receptionist who showed the room as nice and quiet, which it was until the dawn chorus about 6am We are used to the sounds of sweet birds, we live in the country, this was different. 1) it was inflicted, 2) they were jackdaws + crow. As they... More

Hi Gordon Thank you for your review. The Jackdaws are indeed a bit of a pest in Hawkshead, we clearly need a scarecrow near the kitchen door ! We do everything we can to prevent them hanging about and would like to assure you that the team here would be hung drawn and quartered if they ever attempted to throw... More

Very High end Pub Room, including 4 poster bed, large sitting area, bathroom with full size bath and separate shower. Walls a bit thin, and was kept awake a bit by a nasally challenged guest in the adjacent room, but generally a fantastic place to stay. Ate in the restaurant, and was really surprised by the quality, portion size and... More

This is very much a real pub with all the action including food orders at the bar. However our room was very nice, well furnished, comfortable, good bathroom etc. We slept well until we were woken at 7am by someone putting out the empties (and a pub has a lot of empties!) outside our window. What we ate there was... More

Very nice, big rooms. A very good bathroom, with a shower and a bath. Very clean, comfortable beds. The food at the restaurant was very good and the portions were big. Nice breakfast with a couple of hot choices to choose from plus a cold buffet. Very good and friendly service.

A quaint old building, full of dark wood and beams. Very traditionally English and lovely. It's in a lovely setting too as there are lots of old cobbled streets and lanes to nose around within a short walking distance and a few shops selling local produce, gift shops, walking gear shops, pubs that do food, as well as a couple...
