YHA HAWKSHEAD is comfortably placed at lake Estwaite. And the small village shows the inspiration Poet William wordsworth took from. Great place to stay. We were a family of 4 adults, so we booked a room with 4 beds(bunks). Self catering kitchen was the highlight. staff were polite. services were good. winderemere is only about 20 kins drive from here.... More

Friendly, helpful staff as always. We stayed in a camping pod and ate in the dining room. I don't know anywhere else you could accommodate a family of 4 for £60 a night and feed them for £15. Good quality food and good choices.

This was my first experience of staying in a camping pod, and I can't wait to try it again. The perfect middle ground between camping in a tent and sleeping in a hotel room. The pod we had was large, clean, well equipped (ie solid walls, plug sockets and a heater - what more could you need?) and we loved... More

This hostel consists of several buildings around an old mansion in a pretty park. The area is outstandingly beautiful and quiet, with narrow lanes, hills and a lake. The house has its own off-road car park. The bunkrooms are basic but spacious with nice big windows and a beautiful view over the lake. There are not very many sockets. The... More

We had booked to camp at Hawkshead YHA but ended up staying in a private room due to issues with our tent. I must say that the picture on the YHA website of their camping is misleading. It looks as though you will camp next to the water. In reality the campsite is well away from the waters edge, which... More

Lovely drive in to a pretty YHa. Self - catering facilities are inadequate...huge kitchen with two tiny cookers...not enough utensils or sharp knives and old kitchen ware. Very noisy at night...no enforcement for quietness it seems. Found children's sweets under my pillow in the morning proving beds had not been changed, just remade. Gross. Manager did deal with this immediately... More

We booked this place last minute just to give us a few days away. The facilities were better than we had anticipated as we'd never used YHA better. If you need somewhere simple with good views and cental this is the place.

The only reason I haven't given them 5 stars is because there was only 1 or 2 plug sockets between a room of 6 of us. This may not bother a lot of people but it was a bit of a nuisance for us. This hostel does what a hostel is supposed to do. It's basic as expected but the... More

Stayed here for 1 night, quick check in by friendly staff then to our room a 4 bed private room. Rooms were very clean. Shower and toilets down the hall way all kept clean. Had no complaints with this place at all. Will be back next year :-)
